BREAKING YouTube.TV drops Disney/ESPN/ABC & an alternate

CNBC this morning basically said YTTV has the leverage. Alphabet/Google (YT parent) is losing money on ESPN / Disney and they're tired of losing money and YTTV is a rounding error in Alphabet/Google's financials whereas they send multiple billions to Disney/ESPN in rights fees and ESPN's contract with fubo allows fubo access to ESPN+ so access is all within the same platform instead of having to go to the ESPN app like you do with every other streaming service to get the ESPN+ streams.

@CrimsonNagus earlier broke down the costs for fubo. YTTV is much simpler. Regardless, I'm keeping an eye on this and will make a decision this week whether to switch to fubo.

YTTV has two functions in my household: sports and keeping my wife happy. I hate 90% of the shlock on TV and if it was up to me, I would turn it off right after Alabama basketball is eliminated in the post-season. Alas, my wife watches TLC and various other reality TV shows, so I have to keep them around. If there's an upside to it, it frees me up to go to my home office and play Borderlands 4.

I have to make a correction to what I said here. On your home network you can use more than one TV device, but if a TV device starts streaming away from your home, you will get an error. It was a 5 day trial, so I have it until the 6th.

I did not know they allowed multiple households. It might be an option for this weekend if there is still no deal. It is just so much more than YTTV, $83 vs $115 for DTV Choice plan.

They lost my sister. She did not want to fool around with trials and day passes, so Saturday morning, she canceled her YTTV and signed up for Hulu+Live TV.

Thing is, and I may be wrong, but I’m not sure FUBO has some of the channels that carry basketball later on…of course that’s next year. I’d like to stay with YTTV but since it’s a monthly rental it doesn’t really matter. I’ve always like liked YTTV’s interface better.
 
Actually, looking at the DTV website, they have something they call Genre Packs which are smaller streaming channel packs that might just work better than YTTV for us.

The MySports pack includes 20+ channels for $69.98 a month, and it includes ESPN Unlimited. You can add the MyHome Team pack for an additional $19.99 a month to get the FanDeul networks for the Baves. That would bring the total to $90, just 7 more than YTTV, but I could watch the Braves again!

Here are the channels included in MySports: ACCN, B1G Network, local CBS, CBSSN, CNBC, CNN, ESPN, ESPN 2, ESPN News, ESPNU, local FOX, FOX Business, FOX News, FS1, FS2, Golf, MLB Network, MSNBC, NBA TV, local NBC, NFL Network, NHL Network, SEC Network, TBS, TNT, TruTV, USA.

Yes.
1) Go to fubo.tv and signup for the trial (it is 5 days)
2) Select the Elite with Sports Plus subscription trial.
3) Once you're setup with trial, you need to go into your fubo.tv Settings > Account and activate the ESPN Unlimited. If you already have an ESPN/disney account you can use that. Otherwise create an account.
4) then it will associate your espn/disney acct with the fubo account and you can access it from the ESPN app or website using that login.

You are correct. Fubo does not have TNT, TBS or TruTV, which are pretty big misses when it comes to March Madness.

Yes, but not in the Fubo app. Fubo includes ESPN Unlimited at no additional cost. This is ESPN's new direct-to-consumer streaming service, which includes all the ESPN channels (ESPN, ESPN 2, ESPNU, ESPN News, SECN, ACCN, ESPN on ABC, and ESPN+). EDIT: follow @BamaNation instructions.



As we can all see with this thread, the streaming TV service landscape is a complete mess. You need threads like this and other websites to decipher all the different options and configurations.

So forgive my ignorance, but are yall saying you can only access the ESPN platform through a tablet/laptop but not thru the Fubo app on Roku???
 
This eventually will become pay per view sports. Premium college events (CFB playoffs, Final Four, etc) will be direct purchase.

And when that happens, I’m done. I was a huge MLB fan, particularly the Braves. Now I have only a passing interest.
