BREAKING YouTube.TV drops Disney/ESPN/ABC & an alternate

I personally refuse to buy the ESPN app. I’m not hating on those who do. I fear the conventional way of viewing college football is slowly gravitating to specialized apps or bundles (ie. more money for the Disneys of the world).
The apps are free if you have the cable channel…
Cable TV is the simple easy answer…bundled services in one place, right?…and if you have a smart TV you don’t need the equipment anymore.

I downloaded the ESPN app onto my Roku TV platform. ESPN allowed anybody to watch Gameday for free last Saturday morning.

I guess I'll do a free FUBO trial starting Thursday so I can watch the basketball game Thursday and get the football games on Saturday.

Planning to be at the Cupcake game the next weekend.

Hoping YTTV and the Mouse can strike a deal before the IB.

I have YTTV paused and tempted to jump on DirectTV stream. I have multiple TVs and would want to take advantage of the Disney+/Hulu that's bundled but it appears I'd need a device for every TV. Can anyone confirm?

You either need a device OR the DirecTV app on a smart TV. I have it on one TV with AppleTV device, on another with a Roku device, and a third with just the DirecTV app on smart TV. Plus, my daughter uses my account in house with AppleTV and mother in law on Roku at her house. It works great, but I still like the YTTV layout and user interface better.

Just claimed my $20 credit...they made it difficult. Go to their webpage, click on Updates, Settings, and follow the prompts. Why not just have one click in the email or just credit every user? Because they don't want you to do this...disappointed to say the least.
I did it yesterday. I agree! Why not just give the credit???

On a web browser, the "update" tab is at the very bottom.

but for those of us that had already paid for this month before the blackout, we don't get the credit. So I order to get the credit, I would have to sign up for another month of nothing. I hate Google and Disney.

You could put your account on "hold" and request the credit?

I'm just gonna hold out for a little longer hoping they get this resolved, especially since I bought the NFL package.

Yep, and it is amazing how many people just gloss over this part. This credit is not about caring for their customers. It is about retaining subscribers while the channels are still dark.

This offer...
1 - Requires you to pay for an additional month, whether the channels return or not.
2 - Technically, they don't have to pay anything out; they just take in less.
3 - Requiring your users to do the legwork means they hope not many will bother.

These are not the actions of a company that cares about its users. If they really cared, they would have issued a refund for a portion of the current month's bill since we paid for those channels already and cannot watch.

I canceled the second I saw the "on your next bill" line. They are not tricking me into sticking around when there is no resolution in sight.

Yep. They aren’t discounting current service. They are discounting FUTURE service.

And the number 3 is what PO’s me the most: you’re going to make jump through hoops to give me a discount NEXT month for the content I didn’t receive THIS month? All done in the hope that I can’t find it, don’t bother to do it or forget about it.

They do make third party DVRs that work with digital cable. I don’t have one though, but hear they work well.
I probably rewatch 1% of what all I record. With Google Fiber and YTTV, the storage is unlimited at no extra cost. We watch more recorded Youtube documentaries than sports. I find I use it with football and basketball to take a second look at controversial calls or exciting plays and those are easily findable on Youtube these days. The only things I'm missing are things like GameDay and the SEC wrap-up programs and I don't really miss them that much. What I watch mainly on air is ABC's national news, which I happen to like...
