I went over to Mom's assisted living facility and brought her outside to see it. Have to sit in a chair to be able to hold your head that far back safely.

One of the other resident's daughters had brought over some eclipse glasses so that worked out great!

I took a few peeks at it too and have to admit that was cool!

Left to Right: Mom, Mary (the resident mentioned above), and Corolla (one of the staff).........

If I had Powerball money and could afford to troll people like I wish I could, I would buy 1,000 blowup dolls, fill them up with helium, release them all at once and see how many of my neighbors thought the "rapture" was happening and record their reactions to being "left behind."

And don't bother telling me how horrible I am; I already know that.

Others have posted their pictures in NSNP under "Interesting Science Stuff."

Jazz, I don't know what your idea has to do with the eclipse, but if you decide to pull it off, I'd like to be there. Good idea for a movie.

Yeah, it seems a lot of people felt this was a sign of the end of days. My wife is still on Facebook and seeing this stuff. She’s a cradle Catholic and has no idea what a rapture is. And thus was born my silly joke.

Mark you calendars boys and girls, Montgomery is in the path of totality for the next 2 total eclipses that pass through North America:

April 12, 2045, Montgomery is just inside the north edge of the path of totality.

May 11, 2078, the dead center line of the path of totality goes right through the heart of Montgomery. I'll only be 99 years old!

Since this is the politics and religion section and @CrimsonJazz covered the religious angle, I'll inject some politics. I got a good laugh out of this yesterday.

I was watching UFL Sunday and lots of commercials about NBC news' "coverage" of the eclipse. I said to my football watching buddy, "Have we ever had an eclipse before?"

My 16 yo has now seen two solar eclipses. She'll be around in 2078, but at 123, I'll be pushing up daisies.
