While I admit that I am very proud we got the #1 class last year I think any team that gets in the Top 5 and MAYBE the Top 10 is most likely positioning itself to get into the BCS.

At that point, it comes down to coaching. And I would MUCH rather have CNS and his team than The Hat and the folks in BR....

I think we're in good shape given the class and the likely commits, regardless of RR or what else LSU can do. Plus, we all knew this would be a lower-scoring year simply due to the numbers. What we didn't expect is that the quality of the recruits would be this good....

The quality is great! your are absolutly correct!! Trent, Fluker, Patterson, Massie, Randle, Kirkpatrick are all elite players and for our numbers, they are worth 2 or more players!

Top 5 is fine with me. The highest rated schools are consistently playing in the the BCS bowls including the big one. They also all have quality HC's. I'm just glad Bama is back with that group, and I hope we can stay there for quite some time.

I still think we will end up in the Top 3 especially if we can get Massie and a few more. Nico should get a 5th star but I don't know if he will or not.

Just to see how competetive recruiting is in the SEC is amazing. For instance, the Barn's rating of #23 nationally puts them at 8th in the SEC...

We will be top 5. I'm not exactly sure how tOSU and USCw will finish, but they've got a good chance at top 3, especially if OSU picks up Moses and a few others they have a chance at. But all in all I think if we pick up the guys we feel we are in great shape with, we could be number 1 again, and a lot of that depends on Randle.

If Nico gets a 5th star as I think his play last weekend suggests he should, that would give us 4 guaranteed 5*s (considering Dre is coming) adding Massie and Randle I think would put us over the top, especially if when you consider the possibility of adding other 4*s like Tana/Kelly/Moore/Pat/Myles/Stinson/Cox

First off Coach Kevin Steele was the University of Alabama defensive head coach not DC. Secondly there is no credible source with any info about Bama's OC Coach Mac going anywhere that I have heard of.

Today in class, I got into an argument with this kid who thinks he knows about football recruiting... anyways, he said it takes 4 years before you reap the benefits of you class, so according to him, we wont reap the benefits of the 08 class till the 12' season? So that being said, Whats the right answer? i say a year and a half

When last I checked, we reaped the benefit of Jones, Hightower, Ingram, Cody, and a few others from last year. I don't know how anyone could realistically say that it takes four years to see an impact from recruiting. That's simply not true. Maybe it takes a few years to fill out some real depth, but I think our 12-2 finish was due in very large part to our freshmen.

We are already reaping benefits of last years class. We went from 7-6 to 12-2 partly because of the 16 freshmen who played, Mt. Cody, and the competition it created in practice. The full benefits, however, will take a little longer but we need to get consistently good classes to ensure we have depth or we will be like a house of cards. Take out one card and the house falls.

It depends on the situation. In our case we reaped the benefits of the last class (Julio, Hightower, Ingram, etc.) the following season. Two big reasons for our turnaround this season was improved play from the veterans and freshman being able to make a contribution right away. You could also argue that the level of talent that was being brought in with the last class caused the players who were already on campus to elevate their game, directly contributing to the first reason I mentioned.
