There's a lot of confusion and weirdness going on at Auburn right now, and WIllis isn't the first side effect of this. We need to fix the problem not the symptoms.

I'd equate this one with sleeping with your best friends wife.

This looks bad...and this along with our very average to bad recruiting is not good for Auburn...not good at all.

Technically, I'm not sure you ever have to ask permission to talk to an asst coach at another school. Heck, we proved with Jetgate that you don't necessarily need to ask permission to talk to a head coach.

We were pretty angry, but not on the level that Auburn is showing. Its amazing. They loved the guy one day, and the next the entire Auburn Scout board is devoted to a "hate fest". I can understand it on one level, but with the way Chizik treated Willis, it can't be a suprise he left. Heck, its not like he's the first Auburn grad to work as an assistant at Alabama. Willis is not even the first under Coach Saban. Ron Middleton coached for one season here, and he played at Auburn in the mid 1980s.

I revel in the barn's weeping/gnashing. But on the other hand, I can understand the pyrotechnics over all this. It always irked me not a little bit at Bro Oliver and Wayne Hall's journey to the dark side. It is a business, I suppose.

IMO, what we are seeing is a cumulative effect of being beaten down so far over the past year.

Beginning around the time of Bama's hire of Saban, it seems that Auburn just can't do ANYTHING right.

First, the Franklin debacle, then 36-0, then Tubs, then hiring a 5-19 coach, then the recruiting class falling apart.

In a vacuum, this stings but is not a big deal long term. In today's world, with the success surrounding Bama, and the stench of impending doom surrounding AU, this has been blown way out of proportion. What we are seeing is the reaction to the general direction of both programs.

Unfortunately for the Barn, perception is reality, especially when it comes to college recruiting. Don't think for a minute that this won't be mentioned ad nauseum to any AU recruits that other schools (Troy, UAB, So. Miss) might want to cherry-pick.
