I'm not understanding the big deal. He claims he bowled a 129 and likened it to a Special Olympics score.

Special Olympics is a wonderful thing, and this does not diminish that in any way. Heck, he could have said "I had a retard game" and it wouldn't have bothered me. And it will be interesting to see the double standard come into play as Obama receives practically no criticism from the Kool Aid drinkers, yet had a Conservative made such a comment it would have been trumped up as a symptom of a heartless mindset out of touch with special needs people. In all actuality, it sounds like something Ann Coulter would say.

For me personally, I couldn't care less. Would someone show me a Special Olympian who's bowled a 300?

Negative, Commander. The fact that certain media outlets have made an issue out of it is the reason I posted it.

I try to be objective. I was critical of Bush when I felt like he deserved - and that got to be most of the time, and I am critical of Obama when he deserves it. IMO, this is much ado about nothing. :)

There's been a lot less pervasive comments said with much more criticism. In this world of "be politically correct perfectly all the time" he got off pretty light. The comment is much like what Tony Kornheiser said on MNF football one night then had to make a publicly apology. This falls in the same category. I doubt Obama will be held to that same standard. It's just one of the many double standards of mankind.

I get a little darker shade of brown in the summer, but me and The Obama are practically separated at birth. 'cept, I was born in Mississippi and The Obama....well, there's no real proof that he was ever born. I think he just 'was'. ;)

What bothers me about it is if it had been a republican that made these comments or anyone besides the "O". there would be outrage and people demanding an apology.

seems to me that there are plenty of people "outraged and demanding an apology", else, according to VJ, he wouldn't have posted this.

Got it. I think all news outlets should be limited to three hours of reporting a day, filling up 24/7 coverage ends up in a whole lot of stupid ;)

me, just give me two skank ice-skater chicks smacking each other around with steel pipes and i will be content ;)

i dont think that has anything whatsoever to do with this. just because someone doesn't react to something in the way that you do or to your liking does not imply dismissal/dismissiveness (is that even a word)

a few weeks ago on the bill o'reilly show someone made a comment about someone being retarded for thinking the way they do. an actor who's child has downs expressed his anger over the use of the word. o'reilly issued a public apology, called this actor and apologized, and donated money to research for downs. Now was the comment directly at this particular kid? o'reilly could have easily said the comment was no big deal, but he didn't. He instead did the classy thing and admitted the comment was in bad taste.

Obama should personally apologize for the comment and not issue a statement.
