There is no "Gadsden." I notice on certain boards the mantra has started up big time "Just wait until they get hammered by the NCAA about Gadsden." "Gadsden" was self-investigated by an independent law firm and investigators, at a considerable cost. The result was turned over to the NCAA, and, just as in the textbook matter, accepted. Further, every single vehicle driven by a student athlete is "vetted" as to title, where the money came from to purchase the car, etc. The NCAA is aware of this. We are one of the few schools doing this (or wanting to do it). There is no NCAA investigation ongoing concerning us in Gadsden. In fact, we've been notified that there is not and that the report was accepted and closed. If there were other open issues, they would have been mentioned the report yesterday. So - forget "Gadsden." The barn, OTOH, has a couple of worrisome issues there...
EDIT: As a respected sportswriter friend has posted elsewhere, the NCAA, as a custom, always combines cases, which makes sense. There was only one anomalous case where procedural issues dragged out on one of the charges. It's been over a year since the book PLOI. IOW, the chances of anything else going on concerning Bama are small to the vanishing point, or they would have been combined. (Translation for barn lurkers - no second, Gadsden letter, no matter what your little hearts desire.)
