Best happy hour in town if you get in to town on friday
$1 draft beer
$2 well drinks
$3 glasses of Yellow Tail Chardonnay and Merlot
$4.50 dozen raw oysters
Anyone up for Fresh Gulf seafood, we get our product in 3 times a week, so everything is as fresh as you can get it on the coast.
My recommendations would be the Grilled Mahi Mahi with Lemon Butter sauce or the Bacon - Wrapped shrimp ...
This has been a public service announcement from the OysterMan
The Waysider is great. Country ham, great biscuits etc. surrounding by Bama memorabilia. But it really has a small dining room so you'll have to get there early on a game day.Any suggestions on where to eat breakfast Saturday before the game?
I forgot to include them. Realize we have a zillion in town... and everyone is kind of picky about their favorite. I personally like the La Fiesta in Brookwood and the Los Tarascos locations (82 in Northport/Skyland). Haven't tried the new La Fiesta (next to Olive Garden on 82)... but I imagine it's similar to the one in Brookwood (which is worth the drive IMO). Reason I like those two are due to their enchilas (my regular).I saw the list and everyones's recommendations but didn't see any for a mexican restaurant. I keep asking people from T-Town and players when they come down here for the Senior Bowl whats the best and nobody can come up with anything. Is it that bad?
Having had homemade Mexican food, I'm very particular with my Mexican food. However, I will always vouch for Taco Gean off of 13th Ave, across the street from The Red Shed. Although I will never eat it, they do offer shredded lengua (cow's tongue) and to me, that definitely increases a cultural restaurant's authenticity. They recently changed their hours because the students are back in town, I know they're always open for lunch.I saw the list and everyones's recommendations but didn't see any for a mexican restaurant. Hey Earle... why don't we twist Mike & OysterMan to become official restaurant sponsors on the site? Don't we have those positions open? :wink:Mike, going to overlook for the moment that we don't allow ads on TF (other than the sponsors), and consider it a PSA...![]()
I think our membership includes a little self promoton right? Isn't that article 1046-A of the Tidefans bylaws?Hey Earle... why don't we twist Mike & OysterMan to become official restaurant sponsors on the site? Don't we have those positions open?
Funny story, I had a favorite little Mexican place over in N'Port when I was in school. It was great, but about every two months or so you would show up and it was closed due to an INS raid. Man when it was open they had some great food. It was in an old gas station or something turned into a restaurant best I remember.I saw the list and everyones's recommendations but didn't see any for a mexican restaurant. The best description I've heard of Taco Gean is that, "It's Mexican food you're old Mexican grandmother would make". I've never eaten there, but I have several friends who swear by it (I go by there numerous times on my stops to Egans). They also have at times coca-colas from Mexico - the type with the real cane sugar and not corn syrup. Those are always popular.Having had homemade Mexican food, I'm very particular with my Mexican food. However, I will always vouch for Taco Gean off of 13th Ave, across the street from The Red Shed. Sometimes, their menu isn't always complete because it all depends on what they can make for the day. Everything is made fresh each day, and I, again, highly recommend Taco Gean.
