Could someone please call Gordo and advised them that an officer needs to be on their one and only redlight for next Saturday. The light only holds green for about twenty seconds and the traffic gets backed up all the way back to the four-lane.
At least it is a night game so everyone will not be getting to Starkvegas all at one time.

Well, they never did before.. I tell ya, times, they are a' changin

Out of curiosity, when did you last live in the area? Reform has had one red light for at least the last 20 years -- I used to drive through there on the way to Millport to visit my grandparents during the 80's.

Reform actually has 2 red lights. Been that way for 10-15 years. I currently live in Reform and have lived here all my life (30 years).

Gordo got their lone red light about 7 or 8 years ago, I think.

Gordo: smells like chicken poop, stupid middle-of-nowhere speed trap with a stupid little red light, and a whole bunch of signs telling me to repent or go to Hades...what a wonderfully useless place. :P

actually you can by pass all that by going to fayette and straight on thru millport to Columbus and hit 82 again .

Going 43 or 171 to Fayette then Hwy-96 through Millport into Columbus to catch the 82 bypass is out of the way for most I'd assume...I do remember the 82 traffic getting a bit bad but not bad enough to justify that extra mileage through Fayette and Millport.

Well...it is a very small town that's for sure, but I wouldn't include the signs that say to repent or you WILL go to Hell as part of making it a useless place if I were you. You can have your opinion about the town itself and you can have your opinion about what those signs say, but the fact is the Word of God don't lie. Those signs my friend are the complete opposite of useless. :)

Shouldn't be going philosophical but let's try to work some Sabanisms in it. To me those signs are an example of negative reinforcement. "Do this or something bad will happen." saban tends to talk from the perspective of positive reinforcement. A game like MSU is an opportunity to lose what you've established but an opportunity to re-establish that identity each week. To me, instilling faith through fear grows a weak faith in whatever one believes. I'd rather tell people to repent for everlasting salvation than the fear. That grows a strong faith built on love, hope, and the redemption of man's flaws.

The power of Saban compels you! The power of Saban compels you!

Yall should just do what I'm gonna do, hit Natchez trace and head to Starkville. No stop signs, no red lights, no nothing but a 50mph speed limit, a mess of critters, and a few park rangers who can be reasonable (ask me about gettin stopped 20 mins from s'ville doin 84 in a 1 ton dually...lol)

I am wondering who Jason122798 is. I lived in Reform until I went into the Service and my parents still live down County Rd. 54 (Elmore Rd.). If you know where 3 Bridges Road is then you know where my parents live. They are at the corner of Elmore Rd and 3 Bridges Rd.

And yes, the RPD (Reform PD) are bad about sitting at the first light in Reform and catching speeders. I know it doesn't look like much but Boss Hoggs BBQ in Reform is pretty darn good and there is Jack's and Subway too.

One of the Jack's in either Gordo or Reform has cooked to order breakfast.
I mean you can get eggs over easy or bacon ground up in the grits. You don't see that at all the Jacks.
Then again that was many year ago.

The best restroom is the Dollar General on the west side of Reform. The mens is a restroom/mop room but it is the best room on the trip. And has just a hint of allspice or it could be a combo of pinesol and comet.

You need to get lucky like I did back when I was a student in 1994. My buddy spotted the band buses and equipment busses when we were gassing up. We got to about car #3 behind them. No stopping, nothing, all the way from Black Warrior bridge on 82 into Starksville. No lie. Every light had a cop with cross traffic stopped and we had AHP all the way to the state line leading us. Looked back over the hills once you get into Miss, there was a long line of cars doing the same. It was awesome.

On weekends in Reform we used to go to the Palmetto dance, where all the young ladies hung out (and older ones too). all the Elliotts there were my kin. Reforms football team is usually fair to middling.

My Dad graduated from Palmetto and played some football for the Tigers. He was awesome......all 140 lbs of him. :biggrin2:

Grew up just down the road from there between Fayette and Gordo.
