"Bear of Alabama"

That ole checkered hat,
Rock granite face,
Those eagle eyes roamin' the field,
No football fan alive,
Ever saw the sight,
Whose spine didn't feel a little chill.

(Chorus)

Bear of Alabama - Hero of little boys and their Dads,
Thanks for all the memories and the victories we
shared,
We love you and we miss you, Bear.

The Number One Teams, Number 315,
John David Crow, "The Snake", and Broadway Joe",
You turned boys into men,
Taught 'em how to win,
And the games's just not the same without you Coach.

(Chorus)

Bear of Alabama - Hero of little boys and their Dads,
Thanks for all the memories and the victories we
shared,
We love you and we miss you, Bear.

Every time we look down at a goalpost in the fall,
We'll see you standing there, Bear you're the greatest
of them all.

(Chorus)

Bear of Alabama - Hero of little boys and their Dads,
Thanks for all the memories and the victories we
shared,
We love you and miss you, Bear.

Bear of Alabamaaaaaa, Bear of Alabamaaaaaa, Bear of
Alabamaaaaaaaaaaa

No - it was made in 1983.

Do some of you have to be sarcastic?
Yeah, there's a reason the rest of the country thinks we are obsessed with a dead man. This is one of those reasons.

I appreciate what he did, and I understand that we wouldn't be where we are today without him. But sometimes we're over the top.

Then you don't have to come in this thread. Nothing wrong with reliving memories. I don't care what the "rest of the world" thinks about Bama anyway.

P.S. You probably weren't even born when he was coach.

I felt compelled to see what the obsession was about this time :biggrin2:

And you're right, nothing wrong with reliving old memories, I get nostalgic from time to time. But there's a difference between reliving old memories, and being obsessed with the past. We've been guilty of the latter more often than we want to admit.

Alabama fan's have a stereotype of being obsessed with the past and/or Bear Bryant. Stereotypes exist for a reason. Nothing wrong with being nostalgic, but there is something wrong with being obsessed.
