definately a fumble, but Tebow sold it, by 'pushing' it forward while it was spinning in his hand. fortunately javy put an end to tha drive with the INT in the endzone

I thought about that a lot and watched carefully. My opinion is that it came down to judgment and fairly could have gone either way. Maybe Tebow got a little benefit of his hype on the call but I don't feel the call would have been blatantly wrong either way.

I thought it was a fumble. But it was close and I'm very biased. I told my wife I doubted the call would be overturned. It would require some frame-by-frame hairsplitting.

As things worked out, I'm glad the call was overturned and ruled an incomplete pass. Gators would have pointed to this call as "proof" the refs threw the game to Alabama... :conf2:

I felt like the backside contact was made at the time his arm was up, then he pushed it forward as all Qbs are taught to do,also it wasn't indisputable evidence.Thats the reason I felt like they were trying to keep the game close. Roll Tide :BigA:

With most QB's that would have been a fumble. But Tebow had the presence of mind to start the forward motion before he lost the ball. Hence it was an incomplete pass. Awfully close, but that was the right call.

From an outsider, it was pretty close, but it was a fumble.

His arm was moving forward, but the ball was already out of his hand when the forward motion was started.

Could have gone either way, but the ruling on the field (fumble) shouldn't have been overturned.

I thought it was a fumble. The ball was already coming out when his forward motion started, and it was completely tumbling out of his hand when his hand was next to his helmet.

Didn't matter either way, though, as Arenas put an end to that drive in the end zone.

If it had been McElroy, they would have called it a fumble.
Come on guys. I know the SEC refs have had some bad calls this year, but there is no conspiracy against Alabama and none against teams playing Alabama or Florida. If you go by the rules, if the player's hand is moving forward, it's an incomplete pass. Since the ball was thrown five yards or so in front of him, obviously the ball was still in his hand or at least a little in control of his hands while he was throwing the ball. There is no conspiracy. Switch the jerseys and I'm sure the same call would have been made. It was a judgment call and they judged it. I could have seen it either way.

There are many, many out there saying that anyway....as far as the OP. Definitely a fumble BUT they got lucky. You can see the ball suddenly spin when he got hit then where they got lucky was the ball while not in his hand anymore was still in the air in front of if his hand so when he made his throwing motion his hand pushed the ball forward. I have watched it over and over and the ball was out of his hand before it started going forward....QB's don't hold the ball with the end pointed straight up, when they are cocked back to throw it and that is how the ball is pointed before it all of sudden flies forward. But really I don't care it was so close it could have went either way....but you know what we still beat FL like a drum so ROLL TIDE!!!

I'm too full of Bama to be truly objective on this, but I think it was a fumble. It looked like an incomplete pass when watching it live, but the more they showed the replay, the more it looked like a fumble. What I kept looking at was, regardless of his arm moving forward or not, the ball was wobbling like it was batted, not like it was thrown. Also, the ball started to come loose before his arm started going forward. I think it could have gone either way, but I was surprised that they overturned the ruling on the field.

That would have been a back-breaker for them had that been called a fumble. But, I was glad to see the defense stop them in the red zone and Javy get the pick.
