Dallas, Texas
Santa Rita no.1, spindletop, palo duro canyon, George Strait, the XIT, Matador, 6666 and King Ranches. Charles Goodnight, sunsets over the western plains, the Texas Rangers (not BB team), Big Bend and has been said before the beautiful women. Just to name a couple things.

I don't care for Texas at all but my grandmother that I love very much lives in McAllen. She is from Anniston,Alabama. That's the only thing I like about Texas.

Not true, that's folklore.

Though truth be told, while it probably wouldn't be allowed to happen (though perfectly legal), any state can secede if they wish. But let's not get into that here...
My wife taught Texas History for many years. She says "Oh yes we can!"

Then someone has to go and mention Rick Perry. Gee, bring up Notre Dame again, why don't ya!:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

1. My surgeon, medical oncologist, pulmonary specialist, some radiologists, several techs, and some awesome nurses @ M.D. Anderson. It's no stretch to say that I am alive today because of them. I'm a huge fan...
(technically, though, very few of these are actual Texans...all of my Drs. are from outside of the USA. But they all have lived there for some years now.)

2. Also, multiple friends in the Houston area, some of which have put us up for free in our gazillion trips out there. Ditto a couple of friends in Dallas, one of whom chauffered exiled, jr. & me to & from the Cotton Bowl last year.

3. A favorite uncle is on the faculty @ UT, after being on faculty @ A&M and @ TCU. His wife's a Bama grad.

4. Oh, and one of my HS classmates lives out in the Dallas area. All of us Tidefans like her. She's not a Bama grad, nor is her hubby. But they attend a LOT of Bama games. She bakes lots of cookies for the O Line. Her hubby's a Cowboys exec...last name of McElroy...

Mesquite - if you use it just right while grilling beef it is very good.

San Antonio Riverwalk

Wife has an Aunt and Uncle who live there and they're really good people.

P.S. On the BBQ, I like it served with either sauce coked on or served on the side. I ain't too picky about that ( of course that's why I'm over 200lbs. lol).

Costco has great mesquite chicken wings. Other than that, I eschew it...

I don't think those are the cheerleaders but part of the pom squad which is like a dance team? I don't think the cheerleaders wear the chaps.
I don't know about this picture but when I watched a Texas basketball game at the Georgia Dome a few years back, their Cheerleader wore chaps. Not sure if they do in football but they sure looked good that weekend. (it was during the regionals)

I fly out to Dallas once a month for a week at a time. I actually enjoy the trips mainly because I can eat Mexican :)
I always wear my Bama hat and shirts.... Even the day after we won the SEC I was wearing them proudly around the city..

The University of Texas was my first choice of schools when I was in high school. I had serious eyes on their film program.
When deciding on schools, Texas was the only school that I was interested in other than Alabama. In the end though, I didn't even apply there.

As for something nice about Texas, they have the best steakhouses in the world. At least, the place where I ate in Dallas when I was there for the Cotton Bowl a couple years back made the best steak that I ever ate.
