Just looking at their state flag, It looks like they are still leaving all their options open.
Is it true they still refuse to pay federal tax?

Galveston's beaches don't even compare when it comes to beaches like in the Destin area. Now, I do like to eat seafood in Galveston. Esp. at Gaido's!Nice beaches in Galveston?????????? Well, my wife says there are a few, but you really have to look for them. Nope, it will make you appreciate our Gulf Coast more.
Houston stinks, literally. Austin is full of left-wing commie pinko weirdo types. They even have a slogan "Keep Austin Strange", or something like that.
The gals are only pretty because they spend more money making themselves look that way. And boy, do they spend money in Dallas.
And it is too close to Oklahoma. And Lousy-anna.
Other than that, I love this place!
I must disagree about the beaches thing. I never went to Courpus, but I grew up going to Galveston AND Gulf Shores (my grandpa's beach house)... the joke back then was, wear a white bathing suit to Galveston and it'll come out brown! I grew up in Spring TX, so a good thing about TX is I grew up there! They have some nice waterways cept for the Houston ship channel gets kind of hairy at times. Nice beaches in Galveston and Corpus, Good times along the mexican border, prettiest gals ever in Dallas and the next to the best football team in the nation according to the BCS.
We aren't Southern?????They aint Southern and they dont know BBQ,..... that's all I got.
We aren't Southern?????
On campus our main building faces south. Not a single building on campus has a main entrance that faces north.
On the main Mall we have bronze statues of Jefferson Davis, General Lee and Stonewall Jackson. We just had off for Confederate Heroes day.
There is no need to be insulting and offensive !
There's some good barbecue in Lockhart, Elgin, and Lexington. But there's not decent piece of pork in the whole state. And yes, grasshopper, pork is barbecue.A lot of Texas envy here. We understand.
To clear some things up:
Texas barbecue is hands-down the best in the nation. Pork is not barbecue, no matter how much you want it to be. And barbecue sauce and iced tea should never be sweetened.
Tex-Mex is the best food in the world. I'd miss fajitas and queso (done right) more than anything else if I ever had to move away.
That is the pom squad in that picture. And yes, they're hot.
Galveston does not have a good beach, though South Padre Island is on par with the best Florida beaches.
The border towns are not safe these days thanks to the border drug problems.
To the guy who said, "Just be glad we didn't leave you to the Mexicans": Texans fought the Mexicans themselves (remember the Alamo?) and won, and Texas joined the U.S. 10 years later.
Austin's motto is "Keep Austin Weird." We are proud of not being like other big cities, and have plenty of interesting characters. Austin is a great city, with a perfect mix of Texas' laid-back attitude and high-tech businesses. It's the best city in Texas (I have lived in several other parts of the state), and one of the best cities in the country.
OMG, hahahahaha, you're killing me.Houston's got a lot more going for it.
And yes, we have a statue honoring ASJ on the South Mall on campus. For those who don't think Texas southern - Albert Sidney Johnston is buried at the state cemetary, a few block from the capitol.
There you go.And yes, we have a statue honoring ASJ on the South Mall on campus.
I stand by my statement... you guys aint Southern... In the South pork bbq is king served with sweet tea.... man you guys are touchy.... lolWe aren't Southern?????

I can certainly believe that. However, if you don't think it would occur to Texans to say something bad about Alabama, I can certainly provide you with ample links, in case you're not a member of any UT boards...Such a thread would not even occur to most of us.

Not really. We have had a "say something good about so-and-so" thread for every game of the season. For the most part it is genuine, with some sarcasm thrown in. Don't feel like we are gunning for texas or anything...Such a thread would not even occur to most of us. There would be no reason to have any "bad" to say about Alabama so why ask for good? Asking for "something good" is implying that "good" is the exception, as it did here. No offense taken.![]()
