After how well he played this spring do you guys think he plays a great role this fall on offense? It just seems to me Gibson w/ his size could be very effective on the opposite side of Julio.
He was a must have player in his recruiting class and has taken his sweet time getting on the field. Better late than never I say and hope he makes the impact we expected from him.
Gibson is an A-Day hero. He played basically the same way last spring. He'll only get to see the field in mop up duty this season.Funny post - BG sure looked like a stud at A-Day, that's for sure.

I could see BG playing as much as McCoy played last season. JJ, Maze, and Hanks will get the bulk of the receptions. I believe, if he stays healthy, that Bell will be the first receiver off the bench. I don't see Alexander seeing the field much. Not so sure about that - McCoy and Peek are gone, and Alexander, while a great blocker, has never been much of a threat to catch the ball. If we got to a four or five wide set, Gibson should be there. And I wonder if Hanks has been underwhelming at the slot - seems like Gibson might see some time there. And if we've found a big-bodied reciever to play opposite JJ, BG would be the guy to make it happen.
We see it pretty much the same way. If Gibson was going to be all we hoped for he would have been showing it by at least last season. Maybe Brandon is a late bloomer.Brandon Gibson has been an enigma. I saw him play against Julio when Foley played UMS-Wright in 2006, Julio's 11th grade year.
In that game, Julio ran back a kickoff 89 yards, and the last ten yards or so, the only guy who had a shot at him was Brandon Gibson, over to Julio's right. Julio separated from Gibson as if Gibson were standing still.
Then I saw Gibson in the Alabama-Mississippi all-star game in Mobile. Gibson pretty well did zilch. I remember thinking, this guy is just out there, and that's it.
Gibson did not play the recruiting game at all. He just bided his time, and when the day came, he signed with Alabama. No threats of going elsewhere, that sort of thing.
UMS-Wright is a pretty ritzy private school. Gibson looked like he fit in there real well. He's one of those guys who seems to have so much on the ball otherwise, good grades, etc., that football just seems to be another one of his talents. As a result, he seems to just go with the flow, and nothing seems to bother him much.
Gibson showed in that UMS-Wright-Foley game, just like in A-Day, that if the ball comes to him, he can certainly do something with it. But, you know how that goes -- with coaches like Nick Saban, maybe you better be going for the ball rather than waiting for it to come to you.
At this point we can only hope and pray he is....Maybe Brandon is a late bloomer.
That's a good point Tommy. BG just has to do the most he can with what he gets. At some point, early in the season, he'll be in a position to contribute. If he does he'll see the field more and more.. Blocking well will help too - cause we are certainly gonna run the ball.If he wants to have much of a Bama career to relate to his kids and grandkids he better start right about now because Coach Saban is bringing in some serious playmaking WRs.
In fairness, what was the pursuit angle taken here? This has A LOT to do with the scenario.Brandon Gibson has been an enigma. I saw him play against Julio when Foley played UMS-Wright in 2006, Julio's 11th grade year.
