I had almost forgotten about him. He is one of those Mississippi kids you cross you fingers on. After Saturday I went back and re-read a few things about him. He has all the measurables to be a great receiver. All he needs is the intangibles. Just to refresh your memory, here are a few quotes from some of our esteemed experts. :)

He was simply a much higher priority for Tide coaches than many other targets who were rated much higher by the traditional services .
Kevin is an amazing athlete and one of my favorite signees in this class.
Norwood is the best "all-around" receiver that we signed IMHO (by far).
Mississippi's No. 5 prospect and the nation's No. 3 deep threat by Rivals.com ...
Kevin is indeed fast, but the biggest thing that makes him special is his hands and his instinct for tracking the ball. If he touches it he's going to catch it, and if it's in the area he's going to get there first

i was amazed by his abilities after the catch (the flip was very smooth and athletic too ;) ). in our section we were scrambling to find a program to figure out who that #83 was. as soon as i heard the name, i remembered hearing that he was supposed to be a good 'un.

Jones, Maze, Hanks, Norwood, and throw in Preston Dial- I like our receiving core more than any time in recent memory.

Norwood is impressive. Like his hands and size. Reminds me of Terrence Edwards from UGA a few years back.

I did not dvr the game so I can`t go back to Norwoods TD, But if I remember correctly while watching live, there were some sideline discussion with him about the flip. Now it could have been a congrads thing or it could have been it could have cost us a penalty thing, I don`t know, but the play could have drawn the flag with the stricter rules. All I do know it was a great play on his first TD. I just hopes he keeps it close to the vest especially at critical times.

It looked like the coaches, especially CNS, jumped him pretty good for the flip in the endzone. I don't remember seeing much of him after that. Did he got a lot of playing time?

He didn't catch another pass during the game, but he was in on at least several more pass plays and routes.
Coach Saban probably let it slide "a little bit" b/c it was his first catch - but by "letting it slide" i mean Coach probably told him "don't do it again or your "butt" will be on the bench ;)

Great talent Norwood is and I hope he can keep it up and find himself in more rotations!!

Kevin played quite a bit after the flip.

I know Kevin personally and saw him play many times in high school.

That's the first time he's ever done anything like that...lol

I guess after waiting nearly two years for his opportunity, to finally catch his first pass at Bama and to score on the play, the excitement just overwhelmed him.

Kinda like when Dareus threw the ball out of the end zone in the BCS championship game.

Kev has outstanding speed, good size, and great great hands.

His high school Coach, Buddy Singleton, also coached a young man named Reggie Collier once, and he told me that Kevin was probably a better overall athlete.

That's a pretty strong testimonial.

I think Kevin will have an outstanding season and adds a great break away threat to our receiving corp.

He also intercepted 24 passes in high school so in an emergency he could help us out in the Defensive Backfield as well.

Watching on tv you could read Coach Saban's lips saying " You're going to get a penalty!" He was not to too happy about the flip.
Not only could you read "penalty" on Saban's lips, you could HEAR Cignetti saying something about, "...somersault at the end..."

I think this wasn't flagged because Norwood had seemingly stumbled a little bit several yards previous. It almost looked as if he might fall on his face. I was sitting in that corner of the stadium, and running toward me I wasn't sure he was going to make it to the endzone. I didn't think much about the flip until I watched it back on TV, where it looked more intentional.

When we originally signed Norwoood, I had a gut feeling that he would be a good one. He was rated pretty hihgly on rivals but did not get the publicity of other receivers who were rated higher by "the experts". I have the same feeling about Phillip Ely. He's not making national headlines but something tells me that he will be VERY GOOD.

I believe the little flip Kevin did becomes a penalty next season. Still it was a very uncool thing to do. I don't care if it was his "first" TD.

I agree. To me it's not cool...It could cause an injury or get flagged...It looked like CNS was giving him an ear full...With that said, it was a great catch and run Kevin...keeping working hard and help stomp the squeal out of the Pigs in Fayetteville!
