Louisiana-Monroe did a pretty darn good job of stopping Mallet for three quarters, then ran out of gas.

Guess what? Bama - even with all the discussion about our defensive "struggles" - has plenty of gas to make it four quarters.

If ULM can do it for three quarters, I believe our D can do it for four!

It has gotten to a ridiculous point about Mallett. Can we play football already? I truly believe that our D is going to "show up"...and this game could get ugly quick if they do. Can you imagine the atmosphere...all the hype...the excitement by them...ALL DRAINED if we get a pick 6 early on, or a sack/fumble taken to the house. These are the kinds of games in which that "bubble of excitement" can be popped...and it starts an avalanche. I'm just sayin'. I have a feelin'. I'm entitled to that...right? R T R!!!!

Yeah, a feeling. Kind of like the GA blackout game. I had a feeling that week too. Kind of liked the way that one turned for the Good guys. Here's to another one just like it!!!:biggrin2:

I think some of you guys are looking at this hype for Mallet in the wrong way. It is actually very good for BAMA if BAMA can do what we all expect them to do. The media's job is to hype the game to garner attention which obviously has happened. If BAMA comes out rolling, all the better. We're still killing giants and we look even better than last week (if that's possible).

Enjoy the drama folks! We are enjoying good times at the UofA. :biggrin2:

Ok lets back it up a minute. If you look at any of my other posts you will see that I agree with the ridiculousness of some Mallett articles going around.
Just poking a little fun at all the seriousness and sensitivity out there. Not trying to overstep my bounds here. I realize where I'm at and I appreciate the hospitality. No offense intended.
No problem with me. I actually thought your post was O.K. Hey, these media folk have to have something to beat the bushes with. This week it is Mallet. Next week it will be Urban. Then Ye Olde Ball Coach and Lattimore.

THIS IS CALLED HAVING THE TARGET ON YOUR BACK.

It is expected, and appreciated by me. :BigA:

It has gotten to a ridiculous point about Mallett.
I believe this is part and parcel of a trend in journalism. With the rise of CNN, everybody became scared to be the second news agency to report a story.
So they were racing to be first.
Then they started reporting the story before it happens. You'll see news outlets reporting, "Tomorrow, the ___ Agency is going to release a report that says ___."
Same thing going on here.
After the game, if Arkansas wins, the story will be Mallett's Heisman Trophy campaign getting off the ground. Simpson just got the jump on that story.
If, on the other hand, Alabama wins, the story will be "the juggernaut from Tuscaloosa."
And so it goes ...

Your reply was to me, and I personally saw the humor in it. I don't doubt that Mallet is a good, if not great player, but like Colt McCoy learned, when our 5-headed offensive monsters are loose on the field, Mallet is watching from the sidelines.

One Arky fan told me today that while everyone knows Ingram-Richardson threat, many over look McElroy and his leadership. Then you toss in Jones, Maize, and others, and BAMM! It's a beast taking the field.

Can we lose? Of course, but with our O firing on all cylinders, it will be an uphill battle for any team on our schedule to knock us out of that #1 spot.

This. There is not ONE other QB in the nation that I'd take over ours right now.
I was gonna post the exact same thing. I love our QB. His arm might not be quite as strong as Mallett's, but it's plenty strong enough. And his accuracy is second to noone, IMO. If he played for Arky and that type of offense, he'd be putting up numbers equal to Mallett's.

That's all I got to say about that.

never thought of Mallet as a great qb, good arm, average decision making skills, limited mobility, and doent take to being hit. Worried about busted assignments and bad angels but i also think the secondary will get at least 3 picks. There is no real super star qb in SEC this year and Mallet is not heisman material at all.

Even the "great" mallet cannot score from the bench. Expect to see a lot of Ingram + Richardson saturday. Bama will play a game of ball hog. ROLL TIDE!!

I guess they forgot the stats last year from this just awesome QB from Arkansas 12-35 160 yrds, 4.6 yrds, sure our Dbacks are a little green, but our D-Line is great along with our LB core! I really think our front line put enough pressure on him to get him uncomfortable. I am predicting a 42-17 score.

I have seen this score many times. I just feel like that's how badly we are going to beat them. I know they have to be fired up after hearing all this crap about Mallet. He's a great QB, but no way he is as good as everyone is saying.

They said the same thing about Tim Tebow - Look how that turned out.

They said the same thing about Colt McCoy - Look how that turned out.

Get my point?

You made my point. We have already shown how to conquer the 'Great QB'
It seems that like butter; when we turn up the heat..., they seem to melt and RUN... :BigA:

Yeah, I hear ya, dude. Everyone's always tryin to predict when Bamas winning streak will come to an end. The Tide just keep on rollin'. I mean, what are they smokin? Don't they know that the Tide can't be beat?
My but you are the clever one. We understand your support and love of your team but try to understand ours as well.

If we seem confident it's for a reason. Through the years the "Tide" has won much more often than not so we have come to expect to win...always. That's how it is and how it will be.

If you do not like or comprehend our dislike of others not expecting us to win, that is your problem, not ours.

If your team wins Saturday then it will have truly accomplished something great that will instantly become part of Razorback football lore. When we win Saturday it will be one more step toward yet another championship season.

This is how it is and until Arkansas reaches similar heights in football, this is how it shall remain.

Good luck with the rest of your season and here's to stomping the ever loving snot out of your team this weekend. :BigA:
