Question: How do you temper your anxiety prior to UA games?

I haven't found anything that works! I love the re-broadcasts of the games because I can watch them knowing the outcome and actually "see" the games without the anxiety factor. The anxiety is so bad at times that I miss important things: the Cody block - missed it cuz I had my head buried in my lap.

I'm curious. I'm 40. How old are you?

OMG - I didn't see you live in my old hometown of Columbus, MS.

What part? New Hope? Main Street?

I used to lose it there because there's not so much to do. I used to do car work before the game and into the first quarter so I had to focus and calm down.

I graduated from Caledonia.

Very close to Columbus Air Force Base! And you are so right, there is nothing this sleepy little town offers as far as recreation! And my grandchildren say Mr. Happy and I are "old as dirt." We're mid-century...LOL

I am in my mid 60s so I guess I have mellowed with age. Not much gets me too excited any longer, probably a good thing with the bad ticker. I usually take a Vallium and do jello shots after each score, if we aren't scoring fast enough I have a drink or a beer. :)

Nothing can. I re-watch later for the same reasons :)

Not much gets you too excited, and yet you take a Vallium? :conf2: Seriously?

The anxiety of a Bama game is high, but so are the rewards!

Really, if you don't care enough to be anxious, then I say what's the point? Go watch Boise or the NFL.

I don't drink so no alcohol for me. I just muster through. I only get nervous when we are down. I start shaking some and what not, but I have to watch.

Take the phone off the hook and put on my lucky bama clothes (esp my white cap with the script A. It's missing the button on top. I lost it last year during the Tenn game from one series I threw it hard against the floor.) If I don't have that cap, I really get very anxious (my wife thinks I'm silly about it).

I'm aways pumped up for Bama's games, especially huge ones like this week. I still go crazy when Bama makes a huge play even though I'm older now too.Plus, I'm always concerned with any game Bama plays, but I'm learning to just enjoy the awesome ride Bama-nation is having right now.

But at the same time. Bama winning the SEC & BCS title last yr helps with this because the urgency of winning a title isn't their like it was before. It's almost like Bama is playing with house money this yr. I see how teams get complacent with the feelings I have sometimes, but I'm so glad we got a coaching staff/players that will do their best to not let this happen.

:BigA: ROLL TIDE :BigA:

I used to live on Mike Parra Road back in the 1970s. Maybe we know some of the same people. (I was also Music Director at Woodland Baptist for 3 years in the late 1990s).

Anyway - the most difficult of all are the 1130 JP kickoffs ESPECIALLY during the lean years.

It's been easier since we got better because I know to appreciate it. Also, we got so used to losing games late that I had to learn how not to let it ruin my day.

I use the drink I affectionally refer to as "The Alabama Gameday" . The recipe is fairly simple but you can write it down just in case:

1 plastic cup obtained previously at Bryant Denny Stadium
1 cup of crushed ice
6-12 ounces of Gentleman Jack (you may use other premium whiskeys, scotch or bourbon if you prefer)

Sip, drink or gulp as dictated by mood, temperature and ability to hold you alcohol.

I don't. I seriously scared my wife's grandparents during the Arky game. Apparently, I hurdled the couch when we made the pick that led to the go ahead score.

I used to watch the re-play,for the same reason. But I am alone in watching my beloved Tide. Now I have TideFans.com, and Eli's broadcast, and it's like I have a group of Tide loving fans in my home! It makes a tremendous difference for me, and some how gets me through the anxiety!
