CECIL NEWTON ADMITS TO MONEY TALKS...

Exclusive: Cam Newton's Dad Admits Money Talks, Says Source - Sports News Story - WSB Atlanta

Now this article is coming out of Georgia. Wonder if it's a concerted effort to affect today's game, or it's legit.. I think it's legit. With the FBI now being involved, I don't think Cecil wants to buck the Feds and get himself into more trouble than he's already in. This is why I think he's coming clean...

So we've gone from:

1) Nondenial denials......to

2) Attacking the "co-conspirators" who are "trying to bring us down".....to

3) Well, Daddy actually did talk $ with one of the guys

Why do I suspect the next step in this parade is, "Cam knew about the money, too?"

And Auburn has gone from "He's eligible no doubt about it" to "he's going to play and no comment."

You can watch this process in nearly any NCAA investigation like this. I have never seen one so prominent where the accused party was COMPLETELY innocent. There might have been one, but I don't remember it.

Some of us still remember the shoes that dropped in Ramseygate. It started with a newspaper article and a flat out denial by Pat Dye. Later on it became "I may or may not be in coaching when this thing is done." Then it became "I'll never resign" which turned into "I did, in fact, know about money changing hands" which ended with "I'm resigning for the good of the program."

Change the names and every big-name college football scandal is pretty much the same.

This at the very bottom of the article:
(Editor's Note: Channel 2 Action News investigative reporter Mark Winne believes it important to disclose that he attended Auburn University, and has remained active primarily through the College of Liberal Arts.)

Cecil never intended to receive money for cam's services. He wanted to expose the corruption at MSU by acting like he was asking for money, then see if MSU would pay, then turn them in. Cam was going to Awbarn all along. Cecil was just doing his civic duty. The NCAA should give him a metal or something.

Well if it's true it doesn't matter who else knew or didn't know, if he brought up/implied his son's name, then according to NZAA rules his son is INELIGIBLE.

Also as of now no-one has actually put the spot-light on the barn, as of yet! Of course this is NZAA rules and NZAA people we are talking about! This will be something like the 'seven-year itch'!:conf2:

So it still has to be taken with a grain of salt and a whole lot of GOODY's HEADACHE POWDER'S!

Has anyone heard/read anything more about Mr. Newton's church? Like have they done any substantial repairs/upgrading to the facilities?

That's the way I see it too, but it appears that Auburn is still intending to play him today.

Wow Brother Cecil sure has upstanding credibility in my eyes. First it was all bunk to bring his son down, then he supposedly didnt know his "son" cheated at UF, then swore up and down they didnt solicit money. I thought preachers were supposed to be men of God?

Didnt he also say he didnt know Rogers at first but yet introduced him in Starkvegas? Definitely not a man I would want leading my church. I guess Jesse was his idol....

So the dad Camshaft might need a new set of valves to get his motor running again. How much more can come out before the NCAA says to Aubarn you need to do whats best for the school in the long term.

1. The school has some proof that nothing really occurred is what the Aubarn faithful must believe and the school had rather have shot at playing for the MNC to keep up with Bama. I mean if your the president of the university is it really worth trying to get to the MNC and then if you do and win it and the truth comes out the school had information and played Fig anyway.

2. What would be the fallout from college football in general if this occurred. I doubt the would receive the death penaty from the NCAA but severe sanctions for years to come.

3. What kind of damage would that do to the Aubarn nation. How many fans would it cost them. It would be worse than the hate for SMU. They would rather loose the BCS trophy and go on probation and have all the awards stripped and go on probation. I bet if you did a poll the Aubarn fans would say even if his father and Fig are found to be guilty.

So if Auburn's admin reads or believes the Atlanta tv station's report, they're taking a HUGE risk by playing Cam today. Does this story have "legs"?

I watched some of GameDay on ESPN this morning, and they didn't even mention the Atlanta story. What does that imply - the story is weak????

Each day seems to get a little worse for the Aubies.
