Re: Cyrus Kouandjio commits to the barn but he has not faxed his LOI in

I watched his announcement and I swear he was about to say... The University..... and then out of his mouth came Auburn... IDK. I hope this young man ends up @Bama!

Re: Cyrus Kouandjio commits to the barn but he has not faxed his LOI in

The NCAA didn't let the USC freshmen transfer. USC let Seantrell Henderson out his binding agreement mainly to save some face.

This is true and Seantrell did not sign with USC on NSD either.

Re: Cyrus Kouandjio commits to the barn but he has not faxed his LOI in

Out of all the recruits, Cyrus was the one I wanted the most. I am old school and believe games are won on the LOS. I'm not sure how to react to all this. I am selfishly wanting him to come to Bama, but if that isnt his first choice... well you know. In the end, he needs to do whats best for him, what he wants. I really hope he realizes his opportunities here with the Tide, but I wont hold any ill will if he does not. I really cant imagine what its like being the #3 overall recruit in the nation...
He was the one I was wanting too. My wife is an AU grad and this makes me sick. I hope he changes back to Crimson.Imagine Richardson and Lacy running that left side behind him!

Re: Cyrus Kouandjio commits to the barn but he has not faxed his LOI in

no inside source or facts to back this up, but my gut feeling has been that he has some reservations about competing with his brother (maybe he's afraid he'll push his brother out of a starting spot) and Auburn capitalized on that. I think a lot of other schools that he might have considered backed off because they thought he was an Alabama lock, but as we know, Auburn does not back off (in fact, they seem to really relish going hard after kids who have made verbals to other schools). I hope for his sake that he takes his time, regroups, and goes somewhere that both he and his family can be excited about.

If this is the case, I like the fact that his HS coach believes Arie will be moved inside due to his larger size, while CK will stay at OT.

His coach said he will be sitting down with him later this afternoon.

Re: Cyrus Kouandjio commits to the barn/ Reports are that he has not faxed his LOI in

I'm with you. You want him there with his heart being in his decision. I honestly think there are many on this board who cannot possibly imagine why a kid would want to go to any other school than Bama. And I get that. We have a passionate fan base. And it will get worse before it gets better with Auburn being on the rise. But he just flat out didn't look comfortable with his decision today. Hopefully he'll get that worked out with his family.

How does wanting the kid to make the right decision "jaded"? Is it "jaded" because I think HE may not want to come to Alabama? I've coached football, granted youth football (ages 8-9, 11-12 yrs old) but parents are parents. I've seen it. They want what's best for their kid SO BAD that they've "got it all planned out! You're going to go do this and this and when you get here you're going to do this...." Yet the entire time the kid doesn't want to do it that way or go that direction.

So yes, I am passionate about CK making the decision that HE feels is best for HIM. Because ultimately everybody wins. He goes where HE wants to go and Alabama doesn't have a player that knee deep into it wishes he would have went with what HE wanted rather than what others wanted. If HE wants to come to Bama I want him at Bama. But if he doesn't then I don't want him here because both parties turn get shorted.

I think the difference here is that CK's parents were caught off guard by his announcement. I could see what you are saying if CK would have always had Auburn in his top five, but when they slid in in the last few weeks and his parents didn't even go on the OV, I think it suggests that his parents had no idea that he was going to announce for the Barn. I also think it suggests that his parents believe he is confused and they want him to wait. He may still choose to sign with the Barn, but at least it will be done after he's discussed this with his family. However, I do think these recent events bodes well for his signature elsewhere (and hopefully with Bama).

Re: Cyrus Kouandjio commits to the barn/ Reports are that he has not faxed his LOI in

Parents usually can see through all the promises a staff gives a recruit. I'd trust any coaching staffs that tells me how it is rather than give us a bunch of promises or tells my kid just what he wants to hear. In truth there is no sure thing when it comes time to make the transition from HS to CFB for any recruit. Everything is earned not given when it comes time to becoming a top CFB player, that simple. Parents usually know what best for their kid, and has their best interest at heart. I sure hope Cyrus gives it more thought while him & his family talk so more about this situation. Wish I would've listen to my parents at times when I thought I knew it all at that age..... LOL

This may sound philisophical, but I've learned in life there are not always clear-cut right and wrong decisions. There are decisions to be made then you can either make it right or let it go wrong. I think CK will make it right wherever he chooses. I don't think he'll go to one school or other, get on the football field and say, "Man, I should have gone somewhere else." He will bond with whatever team he plays on. Develop friends at whichever school he attends. He'll play on either team because he is that good. There might be conveniences from one school to another, but we can't make decisions purely on conveniences. I feel bad for the guy. I know he is an emotional guy and it is hard to feel what your heart says sometimes. FWIW, I hope he come to Bama, but he will do well wherever he chooses.

Re: Cyrus Kouandjio commits to the barn/ Reports are that he has not faxed his LOI in

As much as I would love to see Cyrus in crimson, at this point, I just want him to fax in his letter to Auburn and get it over with.
However, at this point, I doubt he ends up at Auburn. Which is probably good news for us. Either way, though, I just don't like it. Not that I don't like Cyrus or anything.
I believe the commitment to do these press conferences is the problem. This is only the first day they can sign, but everyone treats it like this is the only day - and if anyone postpones their signing, it is a sign of a prima donna.

Bama will kick his brother off of the team if Cyrus goes to Auburn. The family does not want the older brother to lose his scholarship. They are a spiteful bunch.

Re: Cyrus Kouandjio commits to the barn/ Reports are that he has not faxed his LOI in

I'm all about Alabama getting the best players. But I also know that not every top rated kid in the country is an Alabama fan either. Now, their parents, aunts, uncles and cousins might be but it doesn't mean the recruit themselves are. Many kids will simply "go along" in a decision making process and never truly be honest to keep from hurting family and friends' feelings. This may very well be the case here.

It was almost a natural and "logical" decision from the get go that he would go play with his brother. But we have to ask ourselves, a "natural" and "logical" deciscion for whom? CK? Or everyone around CK? There are siblings all the time that want to burn their own path and walk in their owns shoes and make their own footprints.

Sounds like they are making excuses already if he switches. I'll bet they start blaming the REC next. I just hate how they popped in the last week or so and are all of a sudden the favorite. I have a feeling they really guilted CK about beating his brother out for a job at Bama and spoke about how "deep" we are and all that negative recruiting they are known to do.

First, we and BC's parents kidnapped Calloway and pistol whipping him into decommitting from Auburn to Alabama now they are accusing us of extortion. Fraudian slips by those goobers, perhaps?

Re: Cyrus Kouandjio commits to the barn/ Reports are that he has not faxed his LOI in

I agree. His parents should have been apart of that process. But ultimately what needs or needed to happen is that him and his family sit down, layout ALL the information, experiences and scenarios from his visits. The parents input their feelings and thoughts but then back away and say "Cyrus, here's ALL the information and opinions regarding this there is. So with all this information YOU make the decision where YOU want to go to college."

CK's been given a second chance here. He had people around him who will sit down and make the best decision. it may still be Awbie.

I'm guessing they assume everyone does it the way they do...
