Re: Cyrus Kouandjio Commitment (all CK discussion goes here)
I know that Coach Bryant had players welfare in mind all the time. My brother had a guy play HS football with him, a wide receiver, back in the very early 1960s. This player between his soph and jr. years, got married. When he came in for his jr. year, he told Bryant he got married. Coach Bryant told him to go find a job and take care of his wife and family, that he did not have time to play football in college. Told him to work out a schedule to go on and finish his schooling and working. But there was no time for all three. Now that may seem harsh to some, but Bryant knew this guy could not do all three at one time and his mind would be in three different places. So, he told him his first priority now was to take care of his wife. So, the guy was off the team.
If this would be true, then I would be one very angry father. I personally would tell the coach to shut his mouth and allow my son to make a decision without him pressuring my son. The kid probably loves and respects his coach. But, a coach, any high school coach, should ADVISE the player. Not put pressure on him to sign with his favorite, Timbucktoo U. But, in the end, if he does not come, the University of Alabama will still field a team next year. Someone will play this kid's position. Someone will do well in that position. Alabama will not burn down, well except maybe some of the ones here who seem to live and die by every 18 year old kid making a decision like this.IMO he's under tremendous pressure from his coach and the clowns, ahem, coaching staff at Auburn to go to Auburn. His coach pushed him to take the visit and I think he pushed him to commit to Auburn. Bama is the one backing off, but Auburn refuses to leave him alone.
