Re: Cyrus Kouandjio Commitment (all CK discussion goes here)

I don't remember fellow Bama fans being so jealous, paranoid, and small-minded. Maybe 1958? If he rolls with the Tide, great. If he doesn't, great. We win with or without one kid.

To me, the vibe coming out of this whole situation suggests that Cyrus wants to play at Auburn, but is under tremendous pressure from the family to go to Alabama. It would make things considerably easier on them.

Other Tide Fans mods will have to keep this thread moderated because if it was up to me I would close it down and not allow another Kouandjio post until he signs an LOI.
Good idea. It's getting crazy. Even tho I cut it out, I totally agree about the FB stuff. Some ppl take this stuff too seriously and go WAY too far when dealing with 17-22 year old kids/young men.

I did, too, back in 1987. I didn't even apply either. I remember checking on my ACT, which colleges to send my scores and put Bama, Georgia and Auburn. I got an acceptance letter to Auburn without sending anything in to them, other than the ACT score.

I think things have changed though. I am not saying that all my friends kids had 4.0's and 30s on the ACT. Some of them did, some didn't.
Lol my senior year in high school, after my SAT, auburn accepted me with a full academic schollie and I never applied nor did I consider them. Alot of the kids in my high school who didn't get into UGA or didn't qualify for HOPE went to auburn. Of course, these were the kids who didn't go to class, coked up for football games, etc.

Re: Cyrus Kouandjio Commitment (all CK discussion goes here)

I've never understood trying to lurk as a fan of another team. We have Auburn fans who post. Be honest, make your point with respect, and you will be fine here.
I believe my point was made in my original post. Would you find me a more believable Bama fan if I came on here and started posting hare-brained rumors indicting the Auburn coaching staff? At one point, Alabama fans prided themselves on being a fanbase of class. It doesn't take a long look at a thread like this to realize this is not the case.

Furthermore, Alabama fans once believed that no one person is greater than the program. I would say, as of right now, many fans place Cyrus above the program. Like I said: we will win with or without one kid.

I was monitoring f-bomb show and the very latest is it won't be today, maybe this week end,no one knows. But when pressed the Tide Sports reporter said it would't surprise him if he went with Bama. The longer it takes, the better for us. I mean if he were to go to the barn,he's had plenty of opportunity, and Cyrus himself says his big brother Arie holds a lot of sway over him. I just don't think it would take this long for the barn. Sounds to me like he's trying to justify Bama.

IMO he's under tremendous pressure from his coach and the clowns, ahem, coaching staff at Auburn to go to Auburn. His coach pushed him to take the visit and I think he pushed him to commit to Auburn. Bama is the one backing off, but Auburn refuses to leave him alone.

You are referring to me here, and the bottom line is that you wouldn't consider it a "hare-brained" rumor if you understood how the Auburn coaching staff operated. There is a reason why guys like Nick Saban and Urban Meyer dislike the way the Barn operates as they do...

Normally, this stuff would never be posted; however, this thread is way off track and has been since this occurred. Normally our members are able to moderate ourselves in many situations, and are given the ability to do so in rare occasions.

Edit - I am completely coming around to the Facebook stalking idea. I looked at Cyrus' page, and it looks like a scene from "Dawn of the Dead." Very, very creepy.

First, no I'm not referring to you. Second, I understand the Auburn coaching staff engages in shady recruiting practices. It has been documented. What I am referring to is I cannot express an observation about how fellow fans' behavior has changed as a result of Auburn's success and the prospect of a top recruit choosing Auburn over Alabama without being automatically labeled an Auburn fan. I don't know what your rumor was, but you certainly don't have the only one on this thread. And yes, most of them are "hare-brained."

Please for no reason quote the trolls, this thread has filled with them. I agree with surf that this thread has become pointless and should be locked down until we here where he is going. Let all other cyrus discussion be moved to the "Investigation" board. since all this thread i becoming is accsations, founded or not, being tossed around, it likely belongs there anyway. It has also become a lurking ground for trolls and posers.

What if we took that same attitude towards Julio or some other great recruits? We wouldn't have won the national championship in 2009. It takes special players like Julio and Cyrus to win championships. It takes reliable workhorses like Reamer and Anders, too, but it also takes special players. No fans on this forum place Cyrus "above the program," that's a ridiculous statement. They want him because they love the program. We will win without Cyrus sure, but probably not as much. One unblocked defensive end could be the difference between a win and a loss, a national championship season and a top five finish. Cyrus is not above the program, but the program is not above great players. The truth is Bama needs great players more than great players need Bama.

I agree totally, nothing good happening here anymore. I think we need to lock the thread until further notice. It has basically become a chat with a variety of topics, with guys like me posting from lack of anything better to do (studying, listening to old online classes for test prep). I'm done in this thread until something more concrete comes out.
