Re: Cyrus Kouandjio Commitment (all CK discussion goes here)

Which ever school this kid chooses doesn't take away the fact that with or without him Alabama's 2011 class is filled with great talent. This team is going to be just fine with our without CK. No disrespect to him and his family. I hope in the end they get it right. But as for as Alabama goes. We're going to be alright and then some.

Re: Cyrus Kouandjio Commitment (all CK discussion goes here)

It is kind of sad, funny and pathetic all rolled into one that we will finish with Rivals #1 class without Cyrus, but we are spending all of our time obsessing over someone who most now feel will not sign with Alabama. I guess it's just the nature of the game these days. I feel kind of sorry for those other 21 great kids, though.

Absolutely.

I dont think anyone here believes any different.

I think the decision's magnitude is now primarily symbolic - doesnt make it any less important imo, but I think thats the jist of why everyone's on pins and needles.

Now that you mention it, I do, too. I also started thinking tonight about a very dear friend of mine fighting for his life after a car accident over a week ago and it put this back in to perspective. I am ready to know the outcome of this so we can just all move on. I am going to love the Crimson Tide with or without CK and I can't wait to see his brother, Arie kick butt next year!

I didn't see that, it has apparently been removed or wasn't there. That Faye Greene is a fake account. what an idiot. I reported it as a fake account.

ETA: Did you see the Cecil Newton posting? haha.

Re: Cyrus Kouandjio Commitment (all CK discussion goes here)

I think Cyrus is headed to Auburn because if his family couldn't talk him out of it last night, he's probably holding firm on his initial stance.

It's too bad it had to be Auburn of all places. He's three hours from Arie, so they won't be seeing each other often.....that's just "far enough" to make it too far.

It's almost disrespectful to Arie that he chose Auburn, with the bad blood between programs.

Well let's see. He said he felt more at home at Auburn. He said on national television that he wanted to go to Auburn. I think many feel he wants to blaze his own trail versus going with is bigger brother. But I'm not so sure he'll go to Auburn. I think the only people who know anything right now are in the family. We'll all be put out of our misery tomorrow.

Re: Cyrus Kouandjio Commitment (all CK discussion goes here)

I've been following this thread very closely but not posting much in it...but with all the crap Coach McGregor seems to be up to, I thought you all might find this interesting.

A very close family friend happens to be involved in a business which requires her to travel by plane frequently. I had a conversation with her on Sunday, January 23, following a family event, regarding Bama's recruiting class. She and I get along quite well...she's the most passionate Tide fan (besides me) I've ever met. She also contributes on TiderInsider from time to time.

In any event, we began discussing what we thought of Bama's potential incoming class. The conversation soon turned to Cyrus. A quite animated expression came over her face. She then proceded to share with me that coincidentally, a couple of weeks prior, she found herself on a plane seated next to none other than Cyrus' high school coach. She didn't even remember his name at the time, just that he was Cyrus' coach.

They had begun a conversation, and upon learning that she was from Birmingham and a Tide alum and big fan, McGregor's only comment was "don't worry about Cyrus," implying that the Coach was pretty sure Cyrus would be coming to Bama. Through piecing together a timeline, this seems to have happened just before the Barn first drew Cyrus' attention.

I wanted to post this information that very Sunday afternoon on Cyrus' recruiting thread, but didn't want to do anything to jeopardize our chances or Coach McGregor's reputation. But now, this all is just too crazy. Why in the world would the coach be confident enough that Cyrus would sign with Bama at that not-so-distant time, and now he's pulled a complete 180 and is apparently pretty sure Cyrus winds up with the Barn?

Anyway, just another piece to this crazy little puzzle.

Re: Cyrus Kouandjio Commitment (all CK discussion goes here)

I think we should just let him go the AU because of the fact that Walt Williams is on his FB page. We don't need that kind of drama coming to Bama and AU is already in trouble so they could care less. I don't want any kid that may have had contact with an agent, don't need to go down that road again. He maybe a great football player but let's leave the drama on the plains.

blueTunaTiger, from the MEGA THREAD has compiled a compelling story about Coach McGregor. As usual, he is on to something...

ETA: RT1017, why should we let CK go? He is the only innocent one in this mess!!! I hate that he can't see that he is a pawn in a twisted game with his coach and Auburn.

The account is not fake. Someone created a fake account with the same profile picture and posted on his wall. I apologize for posting it, but I saw it on tidesports. I am not a facebook stalker.

Something tells me that as the years go on, this whole recruiting process is going to get crazier and crazier, unfortunately I think we may see more of this in the future. I wonder if we will ever see an early and late signing period.
