I dont know if anyone's mentioned it, but in the midst of Calloway, Kouandjio, Crowell, and Clowney.... WE GOT THE NUMBER 1 CLASS AGAIN ON RIVALS!!!!! 3 OUT OF 4!!! HOLY COW!!! And there's still a chance that with Cyrus we could get it for ESPN too. This May be the best class we've signed since 08!

It truly is great to be an alabama fan.

Your friend the sunshine pumper signing off....

I would also like to add that on Rivals, Bama has 4 straight Top 5 classes.

no one has ever achieved that feat until Bama came along (2008-2011).

not USC, Texas, or Florida. very impressive indeed!

btw, with these last 4 recruiting classes, Bama will have 60 players out of the 85 scholarships players that were either ranked 4* or 5*. :eek2::eek2::eek2:

I think CNS was worth every penny, don't you???

Might be time to think about giving them all a raise. LOL

Some pretty amazing numbers there. I'm not sure most of us realize how fortunate we are to have CNS as our coach. He's already brought our recruiting higher than I thought it would ever go.

Per ESPN the top five recruiting head coaches are: (I’ve added my own take on each)
5. Mark Richt, Georgia Bulldogs – Has had a top 10 class four of the last five years leading to a 6-7 record this past year. Richt proved he can pull talent now he needs to prove he knows how to coach talent.
4. Mack Brown, Texas Longhorns – Has had a top 10 class four of the last five years leading to a 5-7 record and not bowl eligible this past year. Proof that building your program around one player will, as often as not, backfire.
3. Les Miles, LSU Tigers – Consistently brings in top ten classes. Say what you will about Les, he hires assistants who can get them trained up. If he ever learns to tell time LSU could be a serious contender.
2. Lane Kiffin, USC Trojans – I think the NCAA is looking into this.
1. Nick Saban, Alabama Crimson Tide – Though we didn’t have a dream season we held our own behind a completely retooled defense. Top five signing classes, including three #1 classes per Rivals over the last four years ensures Bama as a force for years to come.

Bama is already off to a great start with the 2012 class. ;)
with the in-state talent next year, bama should have a much easier time keeping a top rated class...
Alabama is projected to have as many as 3-4 five star players eligible next season...no reason to think that our recruiting trend will stop with that level of instate tealent...

The problem is that the barn (or other schools, but most likely the barn) have gotten into the ears of some of the top players (Kwon Alexander for example) and got them believing how "stacked" we are and that they'd never compete for PT at Bama. As CS mentioned, we are off to a great start with one of the tope 10-15 players in Williams.

The 2012 class will rival or be better than the 2008 class. I know that is saying a lot but with the players already committed, the incredible in-state talent and cherry picking the rest of the nation the 2012 class will be spectacular IMO.

I don't think AU will be able to talk about our depth chart much anymore. They have also had 2 top 5 classes and signed around 60 the last 2 years. They shouldn't be able to preach early playing time. They are strong 2 deep now too. Competition is back to where it has usually been, even steven. It just so happens we have a better recruiter and coach.

They've been doing that for the past couple years...we still seem to be able to get the top recruits and top ranked classes...the run we've been on is amazing.

I think the staff are very good at countering the depth chart argument.

At some point, when you're recruiting top 3 classes, year after year, depth will become a recruiting point for other schools...that is just common sense, and I would have to say that most would point that out to potential recruits.

One point I'm sure our guys emphasize to counter the concern or negative recruiting by other schools (not naming names, but a certain community college in western Georgia) about immediate playing time: "Yeah, you probably won't start right away, but you're one blown out knee, broken collar bone, broken team rule, attitude problem or 'family issue' away from being the starter".

I forget who it is on the board who has it as their signature (and am too lazy to look it up), but the quote from Bill Belichick is great: "We have 45 men suited up, they're all supposed to be ready to play"
