Paul Dee has a few questions to answer. I want to get his spin on all this.
"We didn't have any suspicion that he was doing anything like this," said Dee, UM's athletic director from 1993 to 2008. "He didn't do anything to cause concern."

"I know with absolute certainty that we controlled the things we could control," Dee said. "It's disappointing to me that there are allegations, but we know there are going to be kids who do something we ask them not to do. We did as much as we could, but when something bad happens, you feel like you should have done more."

"The only asset he has is this story," Dee said of Shapiro. "Whether there's any basis to it or not, I don't know. I think we have to recognize that we're not dealing with somebody who was just an innocent booster who decided to do some nice things."

Spin it Paul....

He's spinning HARD right now. He knows he's been exposed and his career is over.

When I saw the words abortion & stripped my mmediate thought was, "Rick Pitino quit basketball & recruits at Miami?" ha ha
That was a very disturbing part for me. I dont feel for people that get "abortions" to get out of trouble or because they screwed up. Either man up or dont do the deed I think. At 19 I had my child ripped from me because she was "too young" to get an abortion. I told her we both knew what the deal was when we did what we did. I was adult enough to man up and take the child but legally it was all her choice and she chose her way and I would have no part of it. For him to play "God" and do what he done just makes me want to hurt the guy.....

There's just so many jaw-droppers:

In hindsight, Shapiro said he looks at that moment and realizes Miami could have seized on countless incidents and ended his flagrant assault on NCAA bylaws. Just a 20-minute drive northwest from campus, across one of the causeways and into Miami Beach, Shapiro’s high-rolling routine with Hurricanes football players was on display on a daily basis. And according to Shapiro, all Miami needed to do was look.

But instead, Shapiro said he was enabled by the university, allowed to run the entire Miami team out of tunnel and onto the field – twice – and once honored on the field by former athletic director Paul Dee during a game. The same Paul Dee who wagged a finger at USC as the chairman of the NCAA’s committee on infractions in 2010, chiding the Reggie Bush/O.J. Mayo scandal as a systematic failure.
Wowwww. This stuff makes SMU seem like an unapproved text message.

Let me start by saying CT and Brooks are both scum and could not order Charles Robinson's jock on ebay without a secretary and a finacial advisor to supervise. However, with everything going on in college sports today, I will be shocked if no suspensions or other penalties end up coming from the menswear incident. Just too many bad choices by too many players for something not to be fishy. I trust coach Saban and his staff but am quickly losing faith in 18-22 year old kids making good choices. Sure we all did things we regret at that age. But how many times is this kind of stuff going to keep happening? Until the penalties for all parties get severe this stuff will not stop.

Pure Gold.

There are some pretty upset fans at USC right now.

I would bet you're right. This all sounds a lot like the world of politics, doesn't it?

Except there's no indication that they recieved anything of value, meaning that all they really did was sign autographs for a guy who later used the autographed stuff to promote his business and was told by UA to stop doing so. There's no evidence that anything else happened, and there's no logical reason why there has to be anything more.

Let me put it this way:

It's very hard for me to believe that Cecil Newton, a man who lives in Georgia and previously allowed Cam to sign with Florida, asked Mississippi State for money but later sent him to Auburn for free. It's pretty easy for me to believe that a UA player took two minutes to sign autographs without expecting anything in return.

ua has stated that "The University of Alabama is aware of the story, but we will have no further comment" I know Im reading into it, but I think this may handled with a resignation, otherwise we'd be hearing that UA was aware of this before the hire of both men. I'm not sure if either guy can survive at UA or if UA can afford to keep them on staff, just from a publicity stand point. What is Sylvester Croom doing these days? :)

As always I think Saban will figure something out

My guess is that Al Golden is probably saying "Check please!" right about now. He is probably wondering what he got himself into. It is sad to me how corrupt the entire NCAA seems and you just have to wonder will it ever be fixed? It just seems to be so widespread and there is so much money being made now by university's that everyone is trying to get their hand in the cookie jar. Not sure they'll ever be able to stop it completely.

This is way more than internet bluffing. There are photos and corroborating eyewitness accounts to back up much of the story.

Yep I dont see either guy surviving this. I have to wonder if both lied to Saban to get the job, otherwise I dont see him "taking a chance" on something this big. This is not your normal "lip service", this dude was dumb enough to keep records.

Umm like Jag said, this dude is already in the big house. He's there for 20 years. Why would he have to lie at this point? Its not like he's getting time knocked off for participating in this. This is your normal "woman scorned" episode, minus the woman.

He has an awful lot of proof to back up his claims. Also, he's already in jail.
Yep there are a TON of records just posted my Yahoo! to back up their claim on the story. I'd be scared to see what all they are holding in the reserve.

Regardless of how big a scum bad Shapiro is, this piece of investigative journalism by Charles Robinson was masterful. There are quite a few "journalists" and organizations that could learn a thing or two about how to conduct an investigation into improper benefits from him.

Photos and phone records too..

My best friend played for Coach Pannunzio at Murray St. He called me this evening and said, "Hey..did you know my old coach Pannunzio was on UA's coaching staff now?" And I said, "Man, you know he may be in trouble right?" He was shocked...and as I was on the phone with him trying to read Coach Pannunzio's allegations to him and I looked down and Shapiro had provided phone records from the day of his alleged situation and the cell phone did indeed come up as Murray, KY. He was floored.

Yeah...I'm listening to Charles Robinson on SportsCenter now and he's saying that Shapiro (during the course of the investigations) opened up the past 10 years of his financial and social records.

He just dropped another bomb that I didn't see in the article. He said Shapiro tried to pick a fist fight in the press box with the COMPLIANCE DIRECTOR in plain sight of everyone and he was never called to the carpet on this. WOW!

This is way more than internet bluffing. There are photos and corroborating eyewitness accounts to back up much of the story.

No joke! Big Luke and Lil Luke should be hated by now, but sad fact is they are still heroes in the Miami community. The only way to stop that crap down there is to shut the program down, but I dont see them doing that. After they get nailed for this, they'll wish they were shut down as Shalala will loser her job, Dee is gone, and many many coaches will lose their careers over this.

Are you seriously comparing this to the menswear incident?

Its not even close to fair comparing the two IMHO.

Lets do compare: There IS NO PROOF of T-town Menswear paying any Bama player unless I missed something. There IS proof of BIG TIME benefits given to Miami players.
