Just as last year and as I am sure JessN knows, or suspected, we got beat by less talent and better coaching! LSU did no trickery that I can recall, but.....

Why were we trying field goals from way past our kickers comfort zone? Wouldn't punting with a chance of penning them deep have been the best gamble with our defense? The Maze interception would not happen if our coaches had confidence in Trent Richardson.

Trick Or Treet! :mad2:

bottom line:

playcalling was very unAlabama, inconsistent.

AJ is not quite there yet.

Saban wanted points so very bad that he put Foster in unfamilar territory.

sometimes punting is a good thing when you have a great Bama defense.

even with all those inconsistencies with our Offense and the penalties, Bama had chances to win the game. :conf3:

Up until now, Ive never really questioned Saban and his decision making...up until now.

every fan now and then questions playcalling but when the HC like Saban who is in complete control, it makes you scratch your head.

this game was by far the worst I have seen Saban in all of his 5 years.

Agreed. Very disappointed, never thought it would happen 2 years in a row but this was much worse than last year. I'm in disbelief.

you really think we can pin them deep?
Do you trust our kicker more or our punter more... Pick your poison. If we lose by punting, people will be here complaining the play calling again.
We spent a scholarship on a kicker who did not have many touch backs, and keep missing important FGs. This is frustrating.

Yep, our coaches seem to totally forget how great our defense is...we never once really leaned on them by punting, instead of the second and third long field goal, or by running Trent in OT and letting shelley (and shelley has been money from about 37 in) kick at 35 or less yarder. It was almost like we didn't trust our d tonight.

Well, that is kinda the definition of getting out coached.....

No last year Bama got outcoached.Les Miles actually called plays and they worked and Saban failed to defend those plays. Therefore Saban got outcoached. This year it was more of making bad decisions that cost Bama the game on our end. Not anything Miles did.

The funny thing is that if Micheal Williams comes down with that catch, this thread wouldn't exist. It probably wouldn't exist if AJ threw the ball to Norwood who was WIDE OPEN in the 2nd quarter. It also may not exist if Trent doesn't drop the pass in OT where he had at least 10 yards of grass in front of him. It was a conversative game plan, but it came down to lack of execution from our players.

Punting to the short field...at its best, we pin them in the endzone in front of all the students. At its worst, we punt it out of the endzone and they start from the 20, still putting them at least 15 yards deeper than missing a field goal. Either way, they still have to get several first downs before they can then pin us deep.

BINGO!!!

Were we watching two different games? Out coached? Really? As mentioned, if the execution of the right reads by the QB, the fundamental act of catching the ball and securing it to ones chest was executed by the players we'd be posting in a victory thread. The coaches and the playcalling put the guys in positions to make explosive plays and on more than two occassions the players "dropped the ball". Or at least that's what I saw.

When players don't execute it is hard for me to blame the staff. AJ makes the right read that's seven points right there. Maze throws the ball when he should have rather than sitting there waiting and waiting, Williams would have secured ball and pulled to his chest that's another seven right there. The field goal fiasco is on coach. I agree. But other than that the players had opportunities to win this game.

Youre making no sense

last year miles went for went it, had fakes big decisions that worked for him. When your team plays a les miles team you have to be prepared for that.Bama wasn't last year. This year Miles didnt have to do make one crucial call, he let our coaching make the mistakes for us.Those fg attempts were reminiscent of Shulas days here.

Good grief, it's like every other play that doesn't click - if we hit any of those field goals (all were makable), we win and CNS and Co are geniuses.

You guys need to walk away from the ledge.

It may not exist if we had punted instead of kicking a field goal, we will never know! But the kids that missed those field goals have to live with it, minus the millions, for the rest of their lives!
