Alabama isn't 'most 1-A' teams on offense either. Most 1-A teams his at least 50% of their field goals. :)
Two points:
1- FG - our primary FG kicker has hit >75% of his FGs and is a Groza Award semi-finialist.
2- Your right - our offense isn't 'most 1-A teams' - we're 25th in FBS in scoring. Our offense averages just under 3 ppg less than you do against far superior defenses. Need I really say more?

By the looks of all the posters from both sides if all works out according to rational thinking everybody wins. We win by beating GSU fairly thoroughly and GSU gets their moral victory if they score 10 or 14 and it's close at the end of the first half.

GSU's real claim to fame...our placekicker has not missed a kick this season - 48/48 on PAT and 12/12 on FG. He's never missed a PAT in his career - 143/143. Now that, we can brag on. If we can at least get into FG range, we've got a decent shot to get three points at a time.

Yes, he has had a very good career at GSU, but his stats are helped by the fact that he has only been asked to kick 2 FGs of 40 yards or more, and one of those two was only 41 yards. Shelley is pretty good when he is not asked to kick beyond his range.

I was going to ask that very thing... still very very impressive stats.

His longest is a 50. He has the leg for them ( I believe) it's just he doesn't have to a lot of the time.

Mora does have the leg for 50+ we just never really get in that spot.
His longest this season has been from 49. Would have been good from close to 60. He's kicked 40+ into head winds. Once thing is certain. He's got a real chance to make every kick he attempts. Snapper, holder and PK have been together for a few years, and that really helps.

Ground game? I will be happy if we get 150 or so yards. Might need new underwear if we got 200. I know Bama has shut down the run this year, but the sheer number of times we rush will beat their average yards per game (50?), I THINK.

I believe GSu will get above 100 on the ground as well.

I will be happy keeping Alabama under 50 pts, and around 20 PTS for GSU with no injuries, because if we lose any key starters we will be screwed in the playoffs. I am looking forward to traveling to Tuscaloosa and getting to see Bryant Denny Stadium and your campus. I hear it is a really nice football environment. PS: our tix are section NN in east stands the seating diagram shows 2 section NNs in the east stands. How do you tell which one your tickets are in?

Our PK Adrian Mora, a Dalton High Graduate, was recruited by Tennessee and a few other FBS schools (I don't know about Alabama), but the recurring theme from the FBS schools was to ask him to walk on, which is the apparent policy of FBS schools. Why Ga. Southern, with 22 less scholarships, found room for one to Mr. Mora where SECs of the world could not, is beyond me, particularly in light of the LSU game. I believe that most, if not all, GSU fans were rooting for Alabama in that game and collectively cringed every time the kicker missed a 40 yarder.

Some of us were drinking the Blue Tide coolaid that somehow if Alabama was 10-0 and we were 10-0 at the time that we played each other, and both schools were ranked no. 1 in FBS and FCS respectively, and somehow if we managed to slip up and get a win, and get out of town alive, that we could win our NC in FCS, while Alabama, who would still have no FBS losses and no SEC losses, would still win out through the SEC game and the NC game. Then, we could lay claim to two NCs this year!

Instead, we stubbed our toe with Appy. (we affectionately call Crappy) State while you did with LSU.

Now, I am just thinking about the line that our old Coach Erk Russell said as we prepared to play no. 1 ranked Florida State in 1988. "Men, just try to save the equipment, and let's not get anybody hurt today," or words to that effect. (going into the 4th quarter, we were leading Deion Sanders' bunch 10-7 until we ran out of gas and lost 28-10).

There is a reason you don't see the option in the SEC or the pros. It's called speed. Bama will provide Ga Southern with that lesson Sat. :)
Actually the real reason it's not tried more in the pros is because the QBs are too valuable to take hits on virtually every play. The speed issue would equal out because you'd have just as much speed on both sides of the ball. It would then come down to execution. Since most kids go to major colleges with the idea of playing pro ball, schools have to offer offenses that kids think will help get them there. When executed properly, the triple option offense is beautiful to watch and very, very difficult to stop.

If your ticket says EAST STANDS section NN then you will be in the lower bowl with most of the other Georgia Southern fans. The other section NN is in the U-4 level of the east upper deck.

Thanks we got a pretty large group and we didn't want to go to the wrong section.
