Re: Auburn suspends Dyer for Bowl Game

Wasn't Dyer in trouble earlier in the year? Aub co-worker said this is his second suspension for drugs. Players on the team seem to be thinking he's gone, too.

Those rumors about him transferring right after the Iron Bowl make much more sense now.
Could've been I guess. I don't remember hearing that he was, but OMac starting against USU makes more sense to me now. Of course, I'm only imagining what may have been... I have no first hand knowledge. I agree that the transfer talk is beginning to have some context now.

If it was Cam and last year.......already been said. Auburn put up a virtual town wall around cam. It would have taken the Feds and a few tanks to keep Cam from playing.

In his article today, Jon Soloman questions if Dyer was suspended for the first quarter for the BCSCG last year. If so, that would be 3 suspensions in less than a year. Very Steven Garcia-like.

AU can't afford for him to leave from a team need standpoint. They also don't want a kid to leave who has the goods on Malzahn. They can't have him talking to the NCAA. Again, I'll believe he is transferring when I see him in another uniform.

It seems odd to me that the guy who was the hottest coaching prospect in college football last year and "turned down " 3 million from Vandy can't seem to find a job anywhere but at the cult headquarters in west Gawga.

I've heard that Gus doesn't interview well. Probably a big reason even though teams see his work on the field.

Does anyone honestly feel that a school that moves their appeals date back in order to make sure all the "academically ineligible" players were playing in the BCS game would suspend one of their best offensive weapons for a quarter? Do they even win without him? He was the "MVP" after all.

First off, was that every documented? I know we talked about the appeals being pushed back, but was it ever made official? I remember it staying at the rumor stage.

Second, he was the MVP by playing only 3 quarters. He didn't play at all during the first quarter. That is why Solomon mentions it. Why would they NOT play him for a whole quarter?

I am not saying you are not right. I am just saying that it would be inconsistent with a team that moves their appeals date for players to be able to play in the game. I do know for fact that at UA the appeals date is not in January. I know it was posted by several people who taught at AU or had kids there that the appeals dates was moved back for the entire student body. My wifes old college roomates daughter is at AU and I heard her say they moved it as well. Her daughter also said she didn't know anyone who ever saw the Camster in a classroom.

I checked Auburn's website to find the dates for this year but couldn't. I agree that it doesn't make sense for them to do it. However, since he didn't play for the first quarter it does cause some questioning IMO.

Chizik: Dyer wont practice w/ team this month & says if he is ever wearing an Auburn jersey in the future, its bc he did everything asked.

I was a big Gus proponent through last year, but this year, combined with our game against the barn last year, has shown me that his offense works against good defenses only when you have a once-in-a-lifetime QB to run it.

He's not getting many calls because every team that fielded a defense that could fog a mirror completely shut down his offense this year. Everyone knows his four plays now.

Re: Auburn suspends Dyer for Bowl Game

I do believe he is suspended. There is no doubt he is a trouble maker. I just would be surprised if he was suspended for a quarter in the BCS game last year. I tend to think it may have been dictated by the game situation more than a potential suspension. I really think if that were true ,we would have heard about it prior to now. I wonder if Slammer's post above is right. We may be turning Yeldon and the boogs want him to think he won't have to compete with Dyer. I seem to remember rumors of him transferring last year during recruiting season when Isiah Crowell visited. I just don't think that a barnerham news reporter would be beyond distributing misinformation.

I know you and I agree on much more than we disagree about.

Anyway RTR and Lets win number 14!

I agree 100% with ya..Gus should have took the Vandy job when he had the chance..Combine his offense lack of production without a sCam type player..With his wife's PR debacle..You have a combination that's not looking good for Gus's chance of becoming a HC of a descent D1 team..

Hmmm things definitely don't sound good for Dyer to be back in an AU uniform at the moment. It will be interesting to see how it plays out, they will hurt not having him in the lineup next year if it doesn't work out.

Re: Auburn suspends Dyer for Bowl Game

Dyer would be foolish to leave. He would have to sit out unless he drops a division and if he does that he loses tons of cash. (From Auburn and the draft) NFL scouts will be leary of him because he will be portrayed as a troublemaker by the AU staff. I repeat, I fully expect to see in an AU uniform in the fall.

I still think the boogs are trying to trick Yeldon into thinking he wil be the man next fall without Dyer. Remember this is a team who contacted Jaboo Winston and broke their own self imposed penalties.

How many chances do you get to be a better man? 3 strikes & your out? I too wish him the best.

He seems like a good kid that did something stupid and has to pay the consequence now. I hope he learns from it and that he stays at Auburn. If he transfers then I hope he at least learns from this and becomes a better man.

Wasn't there some scuttlebutt surrounding the Felonious Four and Dyer's connection to that? The gun or something? Anyway, I know his recruitment by *U was dirty, and if Dyer's attitude is really what Krazy Kristi says it is, he may be persuaded to spill the beans on the Barn.
