Why not Burton Burns? Then you could bring in a Siran Stacey to coach the RBs... Heck, I don't know. I'm just making this stuff up as I go.

Regardless, it's going to be interesting to see who it is and what they bring to the dynamic.

At least you are honest about your thought process, I like it. :cool2:

I've read this entire thread and have scratched my head at all but a few names thrown out there. Todd Haley is a control freak, which is why he and Weiss couldn't get along. When Weiss was in NE, Haley was lower on the totem pole but once the tables were turned it was ugly. Long story short, if it were Haley, there would be a fist fight within the first couple of hours. McDaniels is an NFL guy through and through. Norm Chow? No way. He likes complete control of the offense. Coach Saban isn't giving up complete control of anything. Todd Morris JUST got a $1M extension at Clemson. We don't even pay Kirby $1M. You really think we'd pay that for a guy who hasn't coached a game here?

Whoever it is, it'll be someone willing to completely default to Coach Saban. Part of what makes him so successful is that he's as hands on (borderline micro-managerial) a head coach as you'll meet. And guys who have already been head coaches or high profile guys (like a Norm Chow) would never submit to such a thing. Coaching under Coach Saban isn't for everyone. Not everyone is cut out for that grind.

No doubt who is in control in Tusc. Good post. When we got McElwain he was an up and comer who wanted the opportunity to coach at Bama and learn under Saban. Turned out pretty good. Probably what will happen this time.

Coach has absolutely nothing to do with the offense other than personnel. I forget what interview I heard that in. But he said that. I don't imagine the OC being too restricted on that side of the ball.

Remember the play that beat auburn in 09? Cody-5. Saban called that play, as far as the majority of play calling, playbook, set, formations, etc Saban doesn't deal with it. Sure, he'll coach em up, but come game day, it's all on the OC shoulders to score us some points. I mean, Saban is not gonna bring in someone like Mike Leach, or that Baylor OC. We're not going to be airing-it-out. We'll still be run first, but I don't think it's always going to be exactly how Saban would do it. Why do you think he yell's so much when our O is on the field :D

I'm kind of excited for our new offense next season. Lord knows watching some of these suspect play calling has driven me insane. Last year all they wanted to do was get cute in the redzone. This year I guess has been way better though. Even without a receiver with Julio's caliber.

Whoever comes in will have an arsenal of weapons to use.

Not a one of you guys would have picked that CNS would have hired Jim McIlwain or Major Applewhite before him.

It makes me cringe thinking about Mike Groh becoming our OC..I dunno..I think he would be like a last resort type hire after the 50 other OC candidates turns us down..Whatever though..That's my opinion of Groh becoming our OC..At the end of the day though..I'll support whoever Coach Saban hires even if it's Groh..

I agree with a lot of what you say. I think it is time for Alabama to take some of these talented QB recruits and put them to good use. With a running back like Trent causing defenses to crowd the line of scrimmage, there should be open receivers all over the field. I have just not seen the QB development that I expect. When you look back at the classic U of Miami teams, they had a great defense, solid running game, and Heisman Trophy QB's. I see no reason not to have all the components of a great team when you are the top recruiting team in the nation.

I think it will be someone who can A) help work with the QBs and B) can recruit. I don't see some "wet behind the ears" type working. We had that exprience with Applewhite and it didn't go over to well. CNS did a pretty good job last time and I bet he has a substantial list of resumes to look through this morning.
