Re: ***S Landon Collins commits to Bama II***

Remember though Cyrus had never commited to us or anyone until NSD. Many believe assumed he was a UA lock because of his brother and even CK told everyone his brother would not be a factor. CK first commitment last year was to AU and than the family talk to him and he commited to UA.

Yeah true, but he seemed one of the surest locks (if there is such a thing) before his trip to AU right before NSD. That whole deal was fishy without a doubt. I'll probably stay cautiously optimistic until NSD as I always do just because I've seen flips before. But his commitment is huge and I think he'll be a star in the secondary. Gotta hand it to CNS and staff and everyone take time to soak all of this in and remember where we were 6-7 years ago.

Re: ***S Landon Collins commits to Bama II***

“Alabama is the premier program in the nation right now and the guys in the game should tell everyone how bright the future is,” Collins said. “I know my decision surprised some people but I feel firm and comfortable with my choice and my future.”
This is what I like to hear.....welcome to the fold Mr. Collins.:cheers2:

:) Welcome to the Bama Nation Landon. :BigA:

Roll Tide

Re: ***S Landon Collins commits to Bama II***

I'm still giddy over this one.

You're not the only one. :)

This is a huge pickup for Bama! He obviously has all of the physical tools and talent to play immediately. And, seeing how he handled the recruitment and withstood the peer (and parental) pressure and made his choice based on what was best for himself, I would not be surprised if he was one of those players that also has the mental maturity to see the field very early in his career.

Roll Tide and welcome aboard Landon! We are all pulling for you.

Re: ***S Landon Collins commits to Bama II***

UGA go undefeated? USCe has something to say about it
I hear that, but LSU is gonna be tough next year, and no doubt Georgia should be back in atlanta, this time undefeated. If i were you I'd look towards Pasadena again in 2 years

Welcome aboard Landon...we are so proud that you chose Bama!
In the long run, you will realize what a terrific decision you have made.

Re: ***S Landon Collins commits to Bama II***

I don't do the recruiting stuff like most of you guys. I read the posts and highlights don't mean much to me, not a trained eye here. I like football but I am a baseball guy at heart. But watching him last night made me think of Ronnie Lott back in the day. He just looked like he was is going to turn in to a game changing head hunter that QB's will be forced to throw that ball away from for fear of the receiver literally getting hurt by him. Needless to say I was very impressed by him.

Re: ***S Landon Collins commits to Bama II***

Thinking over the situation with LC, girlfriend, etc., it's obvious that the LSU fans have the facts entirely backward. If it's true - and there's no reason to doubt him - he decided two years ago on Bama, and kept it quiet (smart move), then it's 100% certain that he shared that with the GF, so she knew where to go to school. They're making a big deal of her being on scholarship. Nobody gets a scholarship who doesn't deserve one at Bama, and if she's a bright kid, I'm sure she'd have received one from LSU also. So, my opinion is that, far from his "following" her to Bama, he orchestrated the whole thing...

Re: ***S Landon Collins commits to Bama II***

Great news for Bama. Now we just got to keep him until signing day. With all these great recruits we might be able to make another NC run next year. Of course that all depends on how well they mature and learn the system. RTR

Something interesting I noticed about Collins's announcement

No, this isn't about his mom :) I noticed his announcement came with 7:30 left in the 4th quarter. Then I realized the BCSCG starts at.....that's right, 7:30. I think it's a sign. Bama beat LSU for Landon Collins's commitment, and we'll beat them on Monday night too.

Very possible. If so, he's likely a lot more intelligent and mature that we are giving him credit for.

Any kid who has grown up in Louisiana, especially south Louisiana KNOWS that they are raised to bleed purple and gold and are EXPECTED to answer the "call of duty" if LSU comes uh-callin' for their signature. And there is hell to pay if that doesn't happen. Ask former Tide player, Louisiana native, Luther Davis. They make their everyday lives miserable every step of the way. From going to school to getting nasty text's, phone calls, facebook threats etc. It's quite serious.

I feel that this is the reason he waited until just a month before NSD to "come out." If I were a LA kid determined to go out of state, I'd wait until the last minute also...
