I'm just tired of the gay community telling me what I should believe in and telling me how intolerant I am towards there lifestyle. They want me to respect there beliefs and way of life but, they refuse to respect my beliefs and way of life. Sounds like they are just as intolerant as I am.

Look, I don't care what anyone on this board thinks of me, I'm going to believe in what I want to believe in and I will never vote for same sex marriage. It goes against my beliefs, sorry but it just does. I'm standing up for what I believe in, you guys can call me a bigot or whatever, I don't care. No amount of shame being flung from the other side will ever force me to change my beliefs. I'm just tired of being called intolerant when they are just as intolerant towards me. I have the same issue with atheist, who seem very mad at a God they don't believe in and are so intolerant towards those who do believe.

I'm serious, I don't believe in same sex marriage and I don't care what you guys may think of me because of that and, I don't have to come back and explain why? I have no problems with the gay lifestyle, people can mount whoever they want to but, I draw the line at same sex marriage, sorry but that's just how I feel.

Lets make a deal, you vote how you want to and I'll vote how I want to. When more people vote your way, you get what you want. When more people vote my way, I get what I want. That's how it works, deal? If same sex marriage is ever made legal in this state or at the Federal level, then I'll be fine with it, won't sit around crying about. Until then stop running all over my beliefs just because they don't fall in line with yours.

Now, let me have it but, just remember, you ain't changing my beliefs.

I'm not gonna bash you for what you believe. You stated it and didnt trash anyone doing it. I will disagree with one part of your post. I have never had a gay person bash me for what I believe. I love me some wimmenz and all the gay people I know are ok with that.:)

The Supreme Court (and settled case law) disagrees with you. To quote from the majority decision in Loving v. Virginia, the case that struck down state bans on interracial marriage:

What does this have to do with homosexual marriage today? Here's a statement from Mildred Loving, one of the plaintiffs in Loving v. Virginia: "Surrounded as I am now by wonderful children and grandchildren, not a day goes by that I don't think of Richard and our love, our right to marry, and how much it meant to me to have that freedom to marry the person precious to me, even if others thought he was the "wrong kind of person" for me to marry. I believe all Americans, no matter their race, no matter their sex, no matter their sexual orientation, should have that same freedom to marry. Government has no business imposing some people's religious beliefs over others. Especially if it denies people's civil rights.

I am still not a political person, but I am proud that Richard's and my name is on a court case that can help reinforce the love, the commitment, the fairness, and the family that so many people, black or white, young or old, gay or straight seek in life."
Two things:
1. I disagree with the Supreme Court on more than one issue, and I am fine with that.
2. You have succeeded in directing me away from the point I tried to make. It was but one point. Again, gay person in 2012 is not comparable to a slave. And, to make that comparison diminishes the argument. Again, I'm a get gov't out of marriage altogether guy. So, that should not surprise you that I have a belief that wants gov't out of marriage altogether.

I don't think the government at any level should have a say in who I marry or anyone else for that matter. As far as gayness, or Adultery, or any other sexual sin goes, we all have supposed sins of all types to answer for and I have more than enough to worry about than to be concerned with what other people do in their bedroom or what the President thinks of what people do in their bedroom.

What I want to know is, if Romney jumps to a double digit lead in the polls on Obama, will he evolve again on the subject? This is what, Obama's third or fourth evolution on the subject?

If a state passes a law that says that Marriage is between a "Man and a Woman" -- then how is the state denying any person "equal protection of the laws" -- that means that any man can marry any woman....and any woman can marry any man.....everyone has the right to do that. EVERYONE.....

The problem that some have is not the "equal protection" clause -- it's the fact that they don't like the LAW -- then there is a process in place to change the law.....follow the process.....

But that's not good enough -- people want to "change" the process.....and that's where the Constitution comes into jeopardy.

but that is crap

If I wanted to marry a man (I don't but this is a thought exercise) I am being denied the rights to marry who I wish. The Constitution provides equal protection, period. How is it equal to allow the benefits of marriage to only some of the population?

Equal protection of the LAWS that are in place. If the LAWS in place say Marriage is between a Man and a Woman -- you are receiving equal protection. Period. Not sure what part of that is crap.

If you don't like it Change the Law -- oh right -- they tried that -- it failed 36 times in a row......

You are NOT allowed to marry who you wish -- there are limits -- again -- I am not opposed to Gay Marriage -- but there is a process to follow -- if we alter the process -- what happens when Polygamists want to alter the definition of Marriage to include "multiple partners"? Would that be okay too?

6 pages of gay marriage talk and no one has equated it with marrying an animal? i'm disappointed in the serious tone of this conversation.

To further your point, without any restrictions on "marriage" there would be nuts who would marry a doll or a car or dog ect.

Can any of those things you just mentioned legally sign the paperwork needed to recognize a marriage?
Sorry I wasn't clear. I am not against gay marriage. I was just trying to point out that there has to be some restrictions or clarifications. Change the law to define a civil union as a partnership between 2 consenting adults of legal age or whatever. That was the point I took from the post I quoted.
