Just curious where everybody is putting their money these days? With the fiscal cliff coming, the stock market doesn't seem to be the best place to get any gains.

Me and some of my friends have this debate about which is better to have the next 4 years - gold or silver or guns and ammo.

Metals are more liquid

My dad has about 100 guns and 62,000 rounds of ammo. He also has money in the stock market so I don't know which method he likes best. :)

I have money in a mutual fund. I put $100.00 a month in right now.

No wonder you're not married yet! :eek2: :eek2:

If your timeline is just 4 years, IMO, I wouldn't touch the stock market. If you're 10 years out or more, then my position changes on that. I also think gold and silver are a bit high, but probably won't back down much, if any, over the next 4 years. Not sure where guns and ammo will get you unless there is a complete collapse, but if there is one, that's what I'd want plenty of.

So in other words, I have no idea.

Does anyone think some sort of collapse is avoidable?

Sure. Obama could have a terrible nightmare and wake up in an epiphany. He could get down on his knees and realize that all the beliefs he's had for his entire life are wrong. He could tell the whole country that he's going to correct all the damage he's done over the past 4 years and then work with Republicans in helping to turn the country around. Finally, he could contact Rush Limbaugh and ask him for advice.
Otherwise, no. The barricade at the end of the tracks is already in sight.

Guns/Ammo to protect your
Gold/Silver long enough to diversify to

Obama would need to start out in Economics 101. That would be a long transformation process. I don't think it could happen in four years.

Not only avoidable, but highly unlikely.

I'm starting to believe this. And here is why:

The people who have got us into this mess or ponzi scheme of an economy, control most of the wealth. They will do whatever they have to do to ensure that they maintain the control, power, and wealth. They will not allow the economy to collapse and the dollar to falter.

For the rest of us peasants, they could care less.

It is time we get out of this 2 party political system and start putting people in office who are for the people, not themselves and their "donor's"...

And even better is that they have made even more money convincing folks to stock up on ammo and gold at record (or near record) high prices. :cool2:

Depends on your definition of collapse I guess. A prolonged economic downturn with rising unemployment and ever-higher deficits I think is very likely over the next 4 years. Total economic / civil / government collapses is highly unlikely.
