First, you're a geek.

Second, if it isn't mentioned in the movies then it doesn't exist. I doubt Obama has read any of he EU stuff so, yes, he screwed up and mixed Wars with Trek. Get over it, you geek.
I would respond at length to your snarky name-calling post (geek indeed!), but it is too hard to type while wearing my Chewbacca costume and holding a light saber!

Sitting here watching the Redskins and the Cowboys. Ya know...the next outrage will probably be the Cowboys. Surely, Indians will have some complaint about the Cowboys.

If the Redskins win things will be ok for a while.
I disagree. The malcontents will come out if they win...i.e. are succesful.

The Cleveland Indians had protesters when they appeared in the 1997 World Series. Outside of that year, they have been largely free of Native American backlash.

Bob Costas shows his ignorance of history during halftime of the Redskins vs. Cowboys game.
I expected no less from Costas. In fact, I was anticipating this since Sunday Night Football is carried by NBC.

I'm surprised they didn't have Rachel Maddow or Ed Schultz delivering the message.

I have always thought it ridiculous that some suggest they change the name of the Redskins but have changed my mind. They should change the name to simply
"The Redskins." Washington has become such an embarrassment it should be dropped from the title.

***Thanks to a poster on another site for this thought.

How about the "Washington under-acheiving, useless as breasts on a boar hog, dysfunctional, inept Circus Clowns"? Too long??? :conf3:

Oops, sorry...thought we were naming the politicians there....

Sorry if this has been posted before. If not, enjoy:

We are proud to provide an educational experience by implementing Columbus City Schools’ curriculum infused with the Africentric principles of “Nguzo Saba and Ma’at” (Balance, Harmony, Justice, Order, Reciprocity, Righteousness, and Truth). Additionally, the staff is committed to provide a positive and productive learning environment by addressing the needs of the whole child through African-centered holistic perspectives and beliefs.
This is a public school, and they are called the Nubians. Interestingly enough, the Nubians are currently o-fer in football.

They better hurry and change it, or else they are going to lose out on a ton of money once everyone realizes RGIII sucks.

I think it's accurate to say the name was originally a slur in most contexts and if it's offensive they should look at changing it, if they don't fine.

The fact is - they're gonna change it. Maybe not this year, but they will change it. I'd wager my house on it.

My issue is with the sanctimonious people that won't even say the name.

Ho-hum...another distraction in Washington to take minds off what's going on. Move the venue 5 miles south and call them the Northern Virginia Rednecks, as suggested earlier.

According to this article the term "Redskin" is a translation from a word the Indians came up with to distinguish themselves from the white man. I'm not sure of the credibility of this particular article.

However, Colin Cowherd had a historian on his show a few months ago to discuss the origin of the term. The term (according to the historian) was created by the Indians themselves and not by the white man. So if any of the Indians are "offended" by the term then they need to blame their ancestors.
