Lane Kiffin in T-Town to consult with Saban on Tide's offense.

Re: Consulting with former coaches?

Here's a piece about the transition from Norm Chow's offense to the Lane Kiffin/Steve Sarkisian offense at USC. Might provide some insight on what CNS wants him to evaluate. Link

Re: Consulting with former coaches?

I don't know whats in coach Sabans mind but maybe he is not as Happy with his offense has he was maybe he wants to tweak it a little. Every good Coach trys to stay ontop. He is def minded coach .I'm all for scoring more points who is not right.

Re: Consulting with former coaches?

LK is as bright as they come on the offensive side of the ball. Some guys are born to be coordinators IMO and LK is one of them. I am not a vile fan at all but what that man did to ut is just WRONG!

Re: Consulting with former coaches?

You can bet if Saban invited Kiffin to evaluate and consult about the offense then Kiffin must know what he's doing. I'm no Kiffin fan and really don't regard him as that great of an offense mind. But Saban's opinion trumps mine by a long shot. So he must know what he's doing. An obvious question though is I wonder how Nuss feels about this?

1. Just throwing this out there, know its not what this thread is about but if LK became one of Bama's assistants I'd throw up, 2. Bama lacked diversity this year and some last year. Nuss doesn't seem to know how to call a diverse game, took him all of the A&M game last year to realize Bama could run on them, seemed the same this year. Or may be I should say it takes him awhile to realize/or even not realize what Bama should be running to beat the other team.

Re: Consulting with former coaches?

If Saban asks Kiffin or anyone else to help the team, I trust CNS knows what kind of help.
He needs.

We are dang lucky to have Coach Nuss.

Players still have to run the plays that are called.

I just think we get too darn stubborn sometimes in what we do and think we can impose are will on people. I know this if your a Bully and beating me up everyday I am going to figure out what your doing to me and try to change it.

Re: Consulting with former coaches?

The SEC has a (lightly enforced) rule against SEC coaches consulting during the season against other SEC coaches. That was the firestorm for Meyer helping the Utah coach against us.

WOW! I heard vague rumors that UM helped Utah against us, but didn't know that it was for sure and there were repercussions. That says a lot about UM's personality, that he would win a game and still feel the need to hurt his opponent down the road. There's some Saban-specific envy and other dissonance going on in his head I guess.

Re: Consulting with former coaches?

My connections tell me Saban has been really puzzled over all the positive national press he's been getting and hopes Lane will have some tips on how to deflect some of it.

Always thinking ahead, Saban doesn't want all this sweet talk about him in the media suggesting to recruits he's gone soft, or lost his touch. Lane is expected to offer tips on running the offense, as well as how to generally be offensive.

Re: Consulting with former coaches?

I think Coach Saban might be doing like George on one of the "Seinfeld" episodes....."the opposite effect". Whatever Lane says the offense needs to do....do the opposite and it will probably work just great! :)

Re: Consulting with former coaches?

I know we all have our feelings about Lane from his time in Knoxville and Los Angeles. However, he is a quality offensive coach. He knows his stuff.

Re: Consulting with former coaches?

I hate Lane as much as anyone does, but, I have complete faith in Coach Saban..And if this is true, so be it, Lane is a clown as HC, but, the dude always produced on the O side of the ball..I don't like the idea of Lane anywhere near Tuscaloosa or around our players..It's all good as long as Coach Saban is good with it though..

Re: Consulting with former coaches?

don't like the man, but I respect him for one thing.....
