You expect way more of the team than you do yourselves!Man it was ugly but they never quit. Roll Tide Roll.
You beat me to starting this thread... I just got back to hotel and was genuinely struggling on how I could say this with insults and getting banned for profanity.

For a group that preaches class, etc, I find people giving up and leaving FAR AND AWAY more disgusting and disappointing than the students cursing during a sing in the 4th quarter.

Fix your priorities. Yup, I said it.

We just got back to our hotel, too. To see the parking lot full, brought home just how mass the exodus must have been.

We were alone in our section by 8 rows. There's videos on every sports site showing the exodus. People LOVE that Bear Bryant quote, "Act like you've been there." I guess it only applies when their other team doors something you don't like or the home team is poor sports.

Honest to God, I don't understand it.

It could either demoralize the players watching it happen ,if they even noticed. Or help make them determined to persevere and succeed in spite of waning support. If anything, I believe it was the latter. Our guys never gave up!

Sure you have the right to leave. But as a fan who wants to see the team win I'm asking you to please not let our players watch fans quit if you can help it.

Of course it does for the majority of the game, but if the players are looking into the stands in the 4th quarter for inspiration, we've already lost. If it's a 3 point game with five minutes left and we've got the ball then I'll give my neighbor hell for getting up to leave. But the blame for tonight goes solely to ESPN and the local people who acquiesced to the game time.
To be fair to SOME, it was hot as all get out and late. I saw quiet a bit of people showing signs of heat exhaustion where I was sitting. You can criticize all you want to, but unless you were in Tuscaloosa or at the stadium I think its really hard to put this on ALL fans who were leaving. If you have a serious problem with it then buy a ticket, if money is an issue wait 30 minutes til kickoff and get it from a scalper who sells it under face value otherwise it's not your money that is attached to that seat

I think the most troubling thing of all is that BDS is not the advantage for us that it should be. I was extremely disappointed with how loud our stadium was and how disengaged some of our fans were. I was at the Tennessee-Oklahoma game last weekend (not by choice) and that place was an advantage for Tennessee. It pains me to say it but the environment in Neyland stadium dwarfed the environment at BDS. It was absolutely deafening in that place. I can't believe I just said something good about Tennessee.

It is an unpopular statement but it's true bds is not a very hostile environment compared to neyland, tiger, and jhs. I've been to a lot of bama games and I have found more people sitting down eating nachos covered in blankets than a rowdy bunch of people. A lot of people whine about our student section and how we pipe music like a pro team but to be honest if we didn't it would be loud for 1 or 2 games a year.

Enough with this. Has anyone thought that the team, that Saban may have glanced up into the seats and see the empty seats and make them coach harder, play harder? This isn't Pop Warner football. College players and coaches don't share in juice boxes and Graham Crackers after the game. This is Alabama football. Mediocrity is not tolerated. Saban needs to stop acting like a Broadway diva and focus on the changing game of SEC football that Jess so eloquently explains in his Ole Miss wrap up.

Yaaaaawwwwwwwwnnnnnnn. The obligatory annual "I'm outraged at all the people who left early" thread with a dash of "BDS isn't intimidating enough" thrown in. As always, people buy the tickets and they can decide to stay or not - especially when it's midnight and there's a long drive ahead of them. And BDS is just fine. If the Tennessee atmosphere is so energizing and exciting, go cheer for them or whoever else has a stadium environment that suits you better.

When the cameras showed people leaving, it was close to midnight, which was 1:00 AM for some people. Had it been a game in October that started at a normal time and it hadn't been super hot all day, I'd agree the fans should stay.

But even then, I'm not going to sit in my recliner and brag about what a great fan I am because I "stayed" to the end by watching the whole game and not changing the channel.

Was the early exodus of fans the reason for the loss? No. Do folks have legitimate reasons for leaving a game early? Yes.

But when it gets shown on TV, the message isn't "These are the fans with long drives home." The implied message is fans are leaving early because things aren't going the Tide's way.

When players and recruits see it, they aren't seeing the folks with young kids taking children home to bed. They are seeing supporters abandon the team because things got tough.

So I respect your reasons for needing or wanting to leave early; you bought the tickets you can do what you like. But please don't expect me to be sympathetic or supportive of it. It reflects poorly on the entire fan base.

I think some people were frustrated at how the game went and people leaving early make good targets to fuss about.
If we want the crowd to stick around until the finish, don't schedule it so late.

Almost none of those fans would have left if it was a one score game. The harsh reality is that most left because they had given up on the team / game.

For those with long drives home - they knew that they faced that long drive before they arrived. For those concerned about the time - they knew the kickoff time well enough in advance to sell what were very marketable tickets.

Saban will absolutely talk about this behind closed doors with the team. You can bet that the team noticed and it might actually help pull them together even more, creating an "us against the world" mentality. But stuff like that hurts recruiting. How many recruits were at that game and watched the mass exodus?

Let's not lose sight of the fact that no fan base travels better than Bama.

It would have looked better to see the stadium full until the end for sure. But we've got a pretty good fan base in my opinion.

Of course people can leave when they want. For the ESPN cameras showing large groups of fans deserting the stadium in droves, it was quite the image for the #2 team in the nation. The first thing I thought of was the resemblance of a Mississippi State home game in the third quarter in the midst of a blowout loss.

Fair weather fans? I don't know if that's accurate but sometimes perception is reality.

i love Bama more than anyone. But i'll leave when i'm good and ready being that i paid for the tickets... no offense.
You are what I refer to as an "entertainment value" fan, but there are other ways to support the team financially without depriving the team of a fan that actually wants to sit there and cheer.

Here's the thing. I completely get why some people couldn't stay late for a game like this.

But, a game this big? This huge? If you can't stay for four quarters give someone else your ticket! The team could have used someone in a seat supporting them, yelling and cheering. Walking out on the team like that was pretty sad.

But stuff like that hurts recruiting. How many recruits were at that game and watched the mass exodus?
You and I might not agree on everything, but you seem to get a lot of the subtle aspects of creating a championship team. Stuff like fans walking out on the team hurts the team, that's all there is to it. Sadly some fans are fine with doing that.

see it as you wish. my circumstances put me in a situation where i had to leave the game early. dont care what anyone thinks about it. if anyone wants to look at that as me being a bad fan, so be it if it makes you feel better. for those that left early because they thought it was over, more power to them. their tickets, their decision

I was there and stayed and cheered to the end.

To all who say what they would have done, come to the game next week, buy some tickets that people are selling all around the stadium and help me out!

Roll Tide!!!! To the end!!!!!!
