Politics: Senator Roy Moore?

Moore will be 70 in February, so I doubt he'd be considered for a SCOTUS appointment.

He ran against Governor Riley in the GOP primary in 2006 and got 1/3 of the vote. He ran in 2010 and came in fourth with 19% of the vote.

So I don't see that, either.

I would imagine he'll go back to running his foundation for moral law. His son, Caleb, is presently director. Caleb has three drug convictions and three DUIs in AL and FL. Despite that, when he was arrested and charged with Xanax and MJ possession in 2015, he was granted pretrial diversion after promising to enter drug rehab...

It's always the preachers' kids isn't it?

I knew he had a druggie son but not that he was running the moral law foundation.

I agree with you that appointing a 70-year old man to the SCOTUS bench is an absolutely insane idea - which is why it's probably at the top of Trump's list to actually do. I'm not trying to be mean but......

If he doesn't get the senate seat. What are the odds that either1. He is elected governor in 2018 or 2. Donald Trump appoints him to the supreme court in a later appointment. (Assuming Prior replaces Scalia)
He can't be elected governor in 2018 because he can't run. When he was suspended by JIC over the summer, he got the worse possible result for his personal gain. By being suspended, he can't run for another office until his term is up, which would be 2018. Therefore, he couldn't run in the primary. He could run for office if he steps down, but that would make his gay marriage order an obvious political stunt (not like most didn't already see it as such). Since he couldn't run for office until his term as CJ ended in 2018, I'm curious what the situation would be if he was appointed to Session's seat. It would theoretically remove him from his CJ spot, so I guess his suspension would become void, allowing him to run for Session's seat in the special election (whenever it is held).

I don't think he could win a term in the senate against any of several likely opponents...
