My thoughts... Interesting, Hopeful, but still concerned.

Im going to assume that most know how BvS ends so some spoilers if you haven't.

The Good:

-It seems to have more action and more humor

-It looks great visually ( except for Cyborg), but so did the other 3 movies

-the parademons look pretty cool.

- JK Simmons as Commissioner Gordon. Looks like the comics, but for whatever reason even though I knew it was him his voice sounds like Sam Elliot.

-Aquaman is finally more than the GI Joe reject character that Super Friends made him, and now more of the Greek god character that the comics made him.

The Concerning

Run time:I think if BvS Ultimate edition proved anything it was that the Snyderverse works better with 3hr + running times. I think them explaining Aquaman, Cyborg, and Steppenwolf (Ciran Hinds as the villain) is going to take time. WB needs to push a 3hr movie to ensure that they don't repeat BvS plothole mistakes in a theatrical run.

Snyder's fascination with deconstructive superhero stories: I think what has bit him in the butt is his obsession with the DKR and Watchmen type heroes. I just don't think it works for superheroes that don't have those dark stories like Superman and WW. He just really needs to tell a good story and worry about dark tales for JL Dark or Batman.

Cyborg- I know that they can fix the CGI, but it looks pretty bad. Plus Ive never been a fan of Cyborg being on the JL. He is basically a plot device to introduce a concept that many comic book fans probably saw in the trailer. I would've preferred them to put Zantanna, Static Shock, Dr Fate, Constantine, or Etrigan the Demon if they wanted a B or C list member to save on time. But they wanted to get the New Gods introduced so Cyborg is more fitting.

Superman: Im just hoping he...................Major spoiler for BvS............................................... .................................................. ...................... doesn't come back in a cheap way. I hope they use the STAS story arc "Legacy" to bring him back, and he isn't really in this movie too much

Overall Im excited.

And No Wonder Twins with Gleek...:conf2:..........

You stole my thunder. Ha!

Anywho....The trailer looks like it may be slightly better than suicide squad. The Dark Knight trilogy were the best DC movies, hands down. Lot of character and plot development. The rest of the DC movies haven't developed as well as the MCU. Don't get me wrong, I know it's all comic series level stuff; but the characters do matter.

but it looks to much like BvS.

I think if they forced Snyder to stop deconstructive pieces and kicked whoever edited BvS out then it will atleast be watchable. I still think the trailer points to them doing more right things than BvS, but I still think editing and Snyder's overall hand in the storytelling will be the deciding factors. Which Snyder can paint an amazing picture, but its sometimes way too different to comprehend. I also feel he forgets that he is trying to appeal to two different audiences with two different expectations (comic book diehards and superhero movie goers). He would do better to try to satisfy one or have a person that knows the balance better.

looks like another DC train wreck to me

I think at worst it will be MOS kinda average ratings, but it will meet its quota of $$$. I just think DC is banking on JL2 as being "THE FILM". That's more of why they aren't going with their big gun villains or having the all star cast of JLA. But I just don't see it as risky as BvS because WW and Batman would've been completely explained by November, and probably the New Gods and mother boxes are atleast hinted with the WW movie. my biggest worry is that they either make Batman or WW the biggest point of emphasis, or give way too much time to Cyborg.

The real problem with JLA compared to Avengers is that the JLA is DC's heavy A list hitters (Batman, Superman, WW, and GL) all on one team vs the Avengers who have 2 A listers (Cap and Iron Man) with a bunch of B listers. you could make a case for the Hulk being an A lister, but his importance to the avengers is more of a tank. The point is that DC has more people to give airtime to than Marvel in a teamup movie. That's why it needs to be a Lord of the Rings type length in the right direction to work.

Amy Adams showing in the trailer tells me your concern #4 is justified

yeah Im kinda hoping that they don't go " Here I am back from the dead to save the day" for two reasons.

1) Steppenwolf is more on the level as Aquaman and WW in terms of strength. He isn't Darkseid strong in that the JL couldn't handle him without Superman. So whats the point
2) It just defeats any impact their decision to kill him off in the first place had. I didn't agree with their decision at the stage they did, but they did it so they need to live with it to make it make sense.

Again I say having Darkseid revive him, and manipulate him into serving him is the best way to go.Superman as the villain is a great proven concept, and has been shown to work very well multiple times. I didn't like STAS compared to BTAS due to the animation, but they had good story arcs... and Michael Ironside as Darksied was cool.

Looks entertaining, but everything seems so rushed. Why not be patient like Marvel and build the universe?

Because Fox, WB, and Disney all know that eventually that the superhero movies will die out of interest so DCU wants to get their New Gods concepts out before people lose interest. I think once DC gets where they want then movies will be better because they will slow down. I think WW and JL are steps in the right direction, but how much in the right is the question

MOS was horrible. Better than BvS or Suicide Squad but only because neither had Batfleck

Shame, they are great characters.

FIFY.

But I think someone hit Snyder's direction perfectly in that he can paint beautiful pieces of art, but he is too invested into adding too much, and in the end it just looks way too complicated to enjoy it. Personally I loved 300 and Watchmen because he was only focused on pleasing comic book fans, and not too invested in trying too please everyone. He also seems to do way better on prolouges to his films than the actual movie. In everyone of his movies it seems the first 10 minutes are almost flawless.

MOS I liked but didn't absolutely love. I just think deconstructing the Superman character isn't really appealing. It's like Cap America in that there are dark moments that challenge his boyscout ideology, but he is better in the good vs evil kinda role. Snyder would be awesome with a JL dark or a dark Batman story.

BVS is better with the added 30 minutes but it's too draining for a lot of reviews to me.

I really think WW is probably going to be the first extra base hit out of DCU, but Idk if it is going to be a homerun. But what it needs is to explain Mother Boxes and hint at New Gods at some point, or I can assure you that JL is going to be very complicated.

Like I said earlier I really think DC is really wanting to get to the New Gods story arcs before the next trend starts. I don't blame them, but Snyder is the wrong person to do quick transitions like that. Again he likes to make controversial decisions with comic book dialogue mixed in beautiful pieces of art. So it tends to hack people off at the wasted potential more than the Marvel misses do like Iron Man 2&3 and Thor 2. It's more of an epic success or epic failure.Snyder is and was a risky choice for DC, but I think they have to stay with him because of how far they have already invested in him.

Fwiw the casting of Ciran Hinds does show improvement in casting, but if they cast Ironside as Darkseid then they have totally win me over. But rumor is Jeff Bridges.

After the "Suicide Squad" blunder, I have absolutely NO FAITH in DC movies anymore. Not going to waste my money at the theaters to watch J.L. and simply will wait till Netflix, etc to watch. The same with future DC movies.

My favorite "Superman" might be the one from "Injustice." (Video game that turned into a comic book series.) It is a shame they are not using the "Injustice" storyline as the over arc for their movie franchises.

(Note: I still absolutely LOVE the idea of Jeffrey Dean Morgan as "Thomas Wayne/Batman".)
