I'm not a coach, never been a coach, and never will be a coach but the problem lies on the two fronts...they couldn't convert a 3rd down and couldn't get off the field on 3rd down. Bama had only ran up to 35 or more plays by the end of the 3rd quarter if I remember Gary Danielson saying correctly.

Crazy thing is Bama averaged 5.6 yds/rush on 37 carries for 209...that alone tells you there was an missed opportunity in the running game.

I wasn't pleased with the offensive performance yesterday. I admit that I yelled for a personnel and coaching change in the heat of it. Sounds like a lot of others did too.

Bottom line is that a 14 point performance won't beat that other team. I started to wonder what happened and I went back today to look calmly, although I really dreaded it.

It was pretty much the O-line. Very inconsistent play. I think that the injuries on the O-line have been just as bad for the team as all the LB injuries, maybe worse. I'm really hoping that Bama can avoid the injury bug next season. This has been one of, if not the worst, season I have ever seen for injuries. I tip my hat to the guys on the O-line for gutting it out, because you can really see how pained some of the players were last night and still giving all they had left in the tank.

This is why Nick hates for players to read internet. Imagine how they would feel when a bunch of yahoos who probably never played football above pee wee level rip them and coaches. All their hard work, and a bunch of yahoos rip into them. I got an idea, for all who know what is wrong and know how to fix it, do it. Get in your car and head to t town. Go to AD and hand him your resume or game highlights tape and ask to be the guy to replace our coach or players. I had a buddy who raced motorcycles, some yahoo told him what he was doing wrong in a race and how he needed to fix it. He handed him his helmet and said SHOW me. Guy was rattled, he did not even know how to ride LOL. Like taking marital advice from a catholic priest. They never marry. YEAH that is who can tell me how to live with a woman.
I don't know how to play a piano but I can tell when it is not being played well. We were out coached last night then the players began to recognize it and started showing up in their play. Like most elite players our players know a lot about the game too and they have a pretty good idea when they are playing with a winning game plan. Last night was not it. Even Coach was out of sorts at halftime last night.

You would think by many posts here Bama went 7-5. Are we perfect no, are we dead no. I am sorry but the monday morning quarterbacking must stop. We have some issues, but if you think Tua is going to do better right now than Jalen, you need to think a bit more. Jalen is why we only lost 1 game this year. We did not establish a running game as we should, with this stable of backs. Jalen did not make his 2nd and 3rd read, why cause he is bad, no he was running for his life. This OL has some real issues. Our defense held on better than most with all the injuries all in one area of the team line backers. Get real folks, Tua has great talent but if he played ful games right now I see him doing no better than Jalen until we run better and block better. Does Daboll need to change from NFL to college thinking, I say yes. WE need to run to open pass. Not to mention we run block better than pass block. Do we need to get healthy and make some changes yes. BUT COME ON 11-1, to see many posts here I would think we were 7-5 or 8-4. Do any of you remember pre Saban days when we were 7-5 and a dumpster fire?
Well said. I so agree. I remember pre Saban days. I remember the Dubose & Price mess. I’m not happy with the loss but I understand it. These people complaining need to look back in time & remember what it was like before. These players work hard to play for Alabama & deserve our loyalty & respect.

For all the naysayers out there, ( haven't seen any here on TF) but they can kiss my backside! I don't know any other team in CFB that is in the National Title picture EVERY year like we are! The Barn dang sure isn't, and btw, the barn has joined the "We want Bama" club. I saw Charles Barkley with a t-shirt that said it on the front. I don't see other t-shirts with "We want Auburn" on them. Good Lord, ain't it great to be the team everyone wants to emulate and say they beat to make them look good. We are 11-1. That's an outstanding season. There's a lot of teams out there who would love to have that record. Did this game go as we wanted it to go?... NO, it didn't. Could our OC have called a better game to exploit their weaknesses?.. Perhaps, we'll never know. Simple fact is, we didn't execute well in this game, they did. We didn't seem to play with much fire, they did. We made mistakes, they didn't, and they won. I could sit here and list another 10 excuses on why we lost, injuries (etc) but the simple fact is we didn't play good and they won. AND THAT DON'T CHANGE the way I feel about our boys! Auburn beat us, it's hard to stomach, but when they accomplish what we have in the last 10 years, then I'll listen to them. But, shame on those what I call "Fair weather" fans.

Damien averaged 8.5 ypc and Bo averaged 7.7....and they got 6 carries each. I'm still scratching my head over that.

Saban knows that this loss is on him. If you make the playoffs, he will demand more of himself and his coaches during the preparation. I think that you will win it all if you make it to the playoffs this year.

The jet sweeps early in the first drive worked, as did the off-tackle runs in the first drive of the second half. But those are the only 2 drives in the game that saw Alabama attack the perimeter of their defense. If you watched the LSU game, you saw that this is the weakness in their defense - perimeter runs. It's like Saban and Daboll did their homework, threw in a few plays on those 2 possessions, but just decided to run safe plays the rest of the game. Safe plays that meant challenging the strength of the Auburn defense.

It didn't work. It is fair to criticize things like that. We do not have to know why each individual play failed - all we have to know is that you had better alternatives, were aware of them, and ignored them.

You want to give Saban and Daboll a pass because we do not know exactly where each play broke down? Fine. But at least understand that many of those plays should never have been called in the first place. You take what the defense gives you. You do not attempt to "impose your will" on a team prepared and capable of stopping you.
I had a longer post about this in the post game thread, but I'll repeat a bit here. This is not really accurate. The 2nd possession of the second half had three plays, all to Bo. Run right. Run left. Pass into the flat right. All attacked the perimeter, but we came a yard short and punted. The next drive started with a deep pass to Ridley which ended in +15 yards for DPI, and then three plays to Jacobs, two runs and a pass, again attacking the perimeter. That drive stalled due to a delay of game making it third and 9, a scenario we have not been good at this year. Then we fumbled the field goal snap. So my point... two additional drives, in the second half, that attacked the perimeter. Even our 4th drive of the second half involved a couple of plays that attacked the perimeter. Before the snap debacle there was a Damien Harris run outside for 6 yards. This drive failed because of a bad snap on 3rd and 4 in four down territory, not the play calling. I realize the narrative that the play calling is to blame is not going to die no matter what I say, and I'm not arguing every play call was good. I'm simply pointing out facts that contradict the narrative that we abandoned the running attack to the outside after the successful drive.

Of course AU played their best game and merit the win, but I honestly believe we lost due to self-inflicted wounds: penalties, turnover, botched snaps... the list is really very long.

Thanks - I'll accept your points because I am never going to watch the game again to find out how accurate they are. :(

We have scratched our heads before about this same situation. I remember Derrick Henry lighting up Oklahoma and only getting so many touches. Offensive coordinators make bad judgments sometimes about ball distribution. I am thinking film study was not a happy event yesterday.

Yes, 3rd downs was a main issues as Saban said. I know the committee has about 13 data points to look at, including the "eye test". We have passed the eye test with flying colors most weeks, but probably not on Saturday. I wonder if the committee will notice the uncharacteristic mistakes and realize they probably won't happen again (bad snaps, etc) or if they will focus on the 3rd downs, some bad tackling, losing the battle at the trenches.

That's because that 3rd stringer who came in at the end of Mercer could beat them.

Nobody said anything when we beat Ole Miss 66-3.

If every game we played we played teams as the same caliber as 2017 Ole Miss then we'd be fine. The problem is we didn't. We played teams with better talent and coaches than Ole Miss who could force us to "dribble left handed".

While true, we didn’t know that about Ole Miss then. We had one bad game, albeit it was of the extreme variety.
