I guess this means that neither should take a snap and we run the Wildcat instead.:biggrin:Let me recap so far in this thread:
Hurts can't throw, and runs too much.
Hurts not completing passes and distributing the ball to playmakers and need to be benched.
Tua is way better than Jalen and youtube video proved that.
Tua will play.
Tua will not play.
Hurts will be benched.
Hurts will not be benched.
Hurts miss open receivers.
Tua is turnover prone.
Am I right so far?
Then we're in trouble...
If you look at the game tapes for this season.. most of the time his eyes were on Ridley... how is that Ridley has 55 catches and yet rest of the receivers has less than 14 catches? how is that Bo is behind Ridley with 14 catches? How is that Last year, the receivers, Stewart, Howard and Ridley had over 45 catches but this year.... That leads to a theory, which suggests that Hurts is being told to target Ridley often. Now, if you look at Kiffin's offense and having to switch to Daboll's system and you have to account for Daboll lack of experience calling plays on a college level... Because of that, my theory is that Daboll/Saban is telling Hurts to make 1 or 2 reads before take off. They're making Ridley primary read for almost all of the play. I think they were trying to make up to Ridley from last year. We've spent lot of time complaining about Hurts and his lack of progressions in some area. WE have to stop and think about Daboll development and how he developed Hurts. There's a good chance that this one is on Saban/Daboll and how they approached the playcalling this year. I think it took a loss for Saban/Daboll to realize that it wasn't working and they need to make adjustments, which they should've made after the Colorado State game. `
Is this a conspiracy theory?

Whew... That's some more theory you have.
The discrepancy in catches could be the team had 265 completions in 2016 (17.7 per game) compared to 171 in 2017 (14.3 per game). Also, 417 passing attempts in 2016 (27.8 per game) compared to only 276 thus far in 2017 (23 per game). Meanwhile, the team has 23 passing touchdowns this year compared to 26 in 2016.
Take a look at last year's stats for receiving corps:
http://www.espn.com/college-football/team/stats/_/id/333/year/2016
What's the difference between last year and this year? We have lot of freshmen receivers who's receiving more playing time, and they are the one who get jazzed up when Tua comes on the field.
I know I'm beating this to death, but my point is that we need to start looking at this from different perspective and consider the possibilities that it may not always be Hurts/Tua thing.. but rather from the coaching perspective and how they handled this.
I have a feeling we'll see a different Jalen in the playoff.
I like me some Jalen Hurts, but I also like when Tua comes in because I know I will get to see some of these young guys get the ball thrown to them. Ya'll are bringing up some good points in this thread. Keep em coming. Those charts illustrate why the receivers all seem to get jazzed when Tua comes on the field.
Good points. New OC. Young receivers who are still learning how to run routes. We also lost our starting TE early in the season. Lots of reasons why this year's stats are different than last year's. And I hope you're right. We need to see a different Jalen in the playoff.
I've never thought it was all Hurts' fault. I just know I don't want to see a repeat of the AU game tactics...If you look at the game tapes for this season.. most of the time his eyes were on Ridley... how is that Ridley has 55 catches and yet rest of the receivers has less than 14 catches? how is that Bo is behind Ridley with 14 catches? Hurts is at the top and Tua is at the bottom. Once again, the stats can be misleading due to several factors. It would be nice if we filter out the information and only use the players that both qbs target and we can see the percentage better. For example, Bo Scarbough is targeted 10 percent under Hurts, but under Tua.. Bo hasn't caught a pass from Tua. For all we know, Hurts could be told to target Ridley and if he's not open, run the ball whereas Tua has more options since they might trust him more. Just throwing that out there.

You actually think it's silly for Hurts to do 1 read and run? I mentioned that several time throughout the season. It's cool, do you brah... I'm behind that theory 100 percent and If I'm wrong, I will personally apologize.
