Alabama QB competition article

Re: Alabama QB competition article (ALL QB posts here, please)

Saban is one to generally allow on field performance to determine playing status and let all the clutter and noise go in one ear and out the other. However, he is being pushed to his limits on being able to ignore the continued internal noise that is not helpful to the team and its goals.

If Coach has been favoring starting and using Jalen as Qb I imagine he's being pushed way beyond his limits. Seems awful hard to justify if that were the case.Of course he only has to justify it to himself.

I spoke with someone earlier who was at the 2nd scrimmage(REC), and who also has a close business relationship with a current WR's father. He confirmed everything we heard about the scrimmage. He said they were blown away by some of Tua's throws. He also said per the father(to be brief): Tua "won the team" last year, after the Awbren game players were furious and secretly blamed the coaches for costing us #17 by not playing 13, Daboll and CNS had several heated arguments about who should play, WR's had a meeting with the coaches and lobbied for 13 to play, there was nearly a revolt in the locker room at halftime of the NC game, and the 2nd half of that game saved us a RB, a QB, and a couple WR's among others who considered transfer.

It's simply amazing we rallied in the second half. It proves the team wanted/needed Tua and they put all the division aside and went out and proved we have the best talent in college football. That was a doggone good team we rallied to beat!

Just makes me excited to see what he can do as the "full time starter."

I think all that is another reason Tua will be the starter. Coach Saban doesn't want to go through all that again at halftime of games where we struggle in the first half with Jalen. The starting WR group all came to Alabama at the same time as Tua so all those guys have a bond with each other and I'm sure all those WR's want Tua as the guy to throw them the ball.

Re: Alabama QB competition article (ALL QB posts here, please)

Explain to me how the odds work or what it means?
If you bet $100 last week and Tua wins you would get $500 if you bet this week and Tua gets it you get 400. Basically Vegas has decided this week Tua is more probable than he was last week so the payout is lower.

Thank you. Makes complete sense now.

Looks like it went from 20% to 25%? His chances of winning the award at least.

It's the betting line for him winning the award. The actual chances of him winning the award is much, much, lower.

Actually. If you bet $100 at 5:1 you get $500 plus your bet back. You win $500 but you would get $600 back.
