2018-19 Coaching Carousel (other than Bama)...

  • Hi Guest, we are working on updating the site servers and software. We're also 'forcing' everyone to read and agree to our site privacy policy and terms of service. There are no significant changes to either of these but the terms page does clarify a few things that are mostly in the legalese. You can just click the checkbox for both and continue using the site as usual! We'll update you more on the site upgrades VERY soon! THANK YOU AS ALWAYS for supporting the site and being an active participant!

Re: 2018-19 Coaching Carousel

The boogs are 4-3 and still have @OleMiss, home to TAMU, @UGA, Liberty home @Alabama. I see three losses not counting Ole Miss, so 6-6 is likely the best they can do. Even a 5-7 finish does not get him fired.

As been said in another thread, even auburn ain't going to cough up $32 million plus the cost of his assistant buyouts. Just for the sake of discussion, assuming they did who in the hell are they going to get, Petrino? I believe they are stuck with Gus for at least another 2 years after this season. I would be lying if I said I feel their pain..

I'm OK with that. College Football needs Les Miles!

Love Miles, but LSU runs him off and then hires him as the AD 2 years later? That is dysfunction redefined.

I think Petrino has a large buyout too. It's not as big as Gus's but I think he will stay at Louisville.

I think the smart thing for louisvile and awburn is to just trade coaches straight up. No money exchanged...

Not sure who's next on the chopping block, maybe Brennan at San Jose St. He's like 2-17 last year and this. Or David Beaty @ 5-37 since 2015.

One source has the current top 10 as:

1. Beaty-Kansas
2. Ash-Rutgers
3. Gus/bus- U. of Auburn
4. Edsall-Uconn
5. Fedora-UNC
6. Brennan-San Jose St.
7. Petrino-UL
8. Smith - Ill
9. Johnson-GT
10. Gundy-Okie Lite
Heck, Kansas is finally showing a pulse after all these years. I know the record is horrible, but no one can deny there has been progress this year.

TTT
Updated the OP with Durkin's firing.
Any chance he might be re-rehired today requiring another update?

And can we start a "2018-19 AD and school president carousel" thread?

Re: 2018-19 Coaching Carousel

Gus isn't going anywhere.

Auburn beat the #1 and #2 team last season.

They are 4-2 so far this season.

I don't see any SEC coaches on the hot seat - not until next season at a minimum.
I am going to save this post, he loses to A&M and UGA and Bama he will be so hot you could roast weiners on him. They are now 5-3 and could end up 6-6 very very easy.

Re: 2018-19 Coaching Carousel

The only SEC coach who might get the hook is Barry Odom. He is 0-4 in the conference, still has @ UF @ UT and homes games against Vanderbilt and Arkansas. He could lose all 4, but even if he beats UT and Arkansas will a 2-6 finish save him? Just have to sit back and watch.

The only other SEC coach who may be feeling a little toasty is Muschamp. I think he has this year and next and, will probably be shown the door and wind up on Smart's staff at UGA.
