Plain Trouble on "Da Plains" (all AU posts here)

  • HELLO AGAIN, Guest! We are back, live! We're still doing some troubleshooting and maintenance to fix a few remaining issues but everything looks stable now (except front page which we're working on over next day or two)

Thanks for your patience and support! MUCH appreciated! --Brett (BamaNation)

if you see any problems - please post them in the Troubleshooting board!

This from their board.

Per Longshore on AM740 out of Montgomery:

According to Marcello, the agency (CAA) that represents Gus was told yesterday to start trying to find Gus another job. Marcello got this from two high level sources of his.

Just as I suspected yesterday, this will be a process and they are going to try and make this look like a mutual decision and have that buyout cut way down since he will hopefully have another job lined up. The PR hit would come from the brand new deal Gus received if it was done any other way.

I know Gus is not the sharpest knife in the kitchen; but you can walk with $32million and take a sabbatical to the Bahamas; or you can take another job for less at an also ran crap job and go 5-6 for the rest of your career looking over your shoulder.
I take door A

But, But; Cowherd, the football savant, said Gus was going to own us.
Just needs time; they are still young. And, yes; he played the "we are young " card again in post game presser. C'mon man

He meant his contractual terms at All Bran are "still young" - you know, $42M still to be harvested.

Also, the All Bran-to-Lubbock route has already been mapped by Göös' predecessor Tubby, who might ask only a small consulting fee for plugging it into the Göös Böös GPS. Though Göös could always drive his batwinged BMW recruiting vehicle if he wanted to get there faster...

Speaking of plugging him in; Auburn “Rolls” out new Gus Bus. Seats still available.

"most of those years there were no (or 105 limit after 1973) scholarship limitations. "

Not that it matters because limitations or no limitations are the same for everyone, but for the record, Coach Bryant never coached in the SEC without scholarship limitations. Not even at Kentucky. The SEC had limitations long before the NCAA instituted them in 1973.

"Bobby Dodd insisted there was no other reason he left the SEC, other than the 140 Rule. The 140 Rule stated a college program could only have 140 football and basketball players on scholarship at any one time. The teams were allowed to sign up to 45 players a year, but could not exceed the 140 Rule."

The no limit BS is just that BS. Like today all teams had same limits, so how was that an advantage to Bear. Had they had 85 Bear would still have gotten most good players. The only thing that stopped aubs then stop them now, players do not like you. 85 or 105 you cannot match up period end of story. Bear was not allowed more than any other college, so they were all on level ground except that Bear was better. Just as Nick is better. Amount of available schollies has ZERO to do with the fact no one wants to play at auburn. or at least not enough good payers to build a solid team and foundation for a long run at titles. Sorry whining aubs facts are against you. You just cannot build a team as most great players want nothing to do with the dumpster fire you call a football program. You have 1 time in your history had back to back 10 win seasons, that is the epitome of mediocre.

The results Saturday were 90% because of how dominant this Alabama team truly is. Bama has crushed all comers this year, and Auburn would be no exception. For all I know, Georgia will suffer the same fate, and anyone in the playoffs as well. This is truly an all-time team. And 2019 could be just as good.

The other 10% is about Auburn and their unhealthy infatuation with Alabama. This has been in a place for a very long time, but the success of late has brought it to fever pitch, peaking with the transaction to get Cam Newton there, and win it all in 2010. Since then, they have flirted with greatness, but could not deliver. And 2013 was another deal with the devil to get to where they got to. Should have lost to Georgia that year, and Kick Six was simply a once in a lifetime event.

More ridiculous themes I've seen over the years on ITAT:

Seems every barner personally knows a member of the REC. This REC member is a bag man who keeps said barner informed of all the dirty deeds. Apparently the REC is as stupid as it is all-powerful.

Barners are intellectually and morally and financially superior than everybody, especially Bama folks. In fact, Bama folks are the dregs of humanity. Yet somehow said dregs control the college football universe. Hmmm .... And they gave a $49M contract to Gus. They are so clever it makes no sense to me. But, of course, I'm just a dreg with several advanced degrees ....

It seems like they are blaming all of their problems on a "cheating Bama program". It's like they are convinced that the only reason they are not winning is because we HAVE to be cheating. It's like the only team they played this whole season is Bama ... just a weird group of posters over there. I didn't stay long lol

I know money talks but a reputable "top level" coach willing to come to the Barn under these publicly known circumstances? Having some trouble buying into that.

Stoops makes more sense...no doubt...but not sure he'd be willing to lower himself to that.

The talk about Dabo makes no sense. He's 12-0 and chasing a title right now. Like he's out looking for a job...AT AUBURN?

Stoops could wait another year and maybe take the USC job when Helton is fired. He's better than Auburn.
