Re: First Head Coaching Casualty of 2018
Wow!
Wow!
Still can’t figure out why someone would leave a major school like West Virginia to take the Houston jobâ€â€unless there is a boatload of money involved.
Could be, or it could just be that the man decided not to let anyone else control his future. He has plenty of money - walk away money. And there are plenty of teams that would gladly hire him to run their offense. He has no risk here.I gotta imagine that those interviews that were just "interviews" must have been legit opportunities to give up OC at USC

So realistically what are the chances Kliff lands one of those job? My guess the odds would not be that high.
Could be - we'll know soon enough. But these guys have huge egos. They always think that they are wanted.I feel the opposite. I know he's rich by mere mortal standards, but you've gotta have a solid chance to walk away from a pretty solid job in the USC OC position.
Holgorsen has friends in Houston, loves the city and coached there under Sumlin. He knows the high school coaches and is well respected. He’s getting a nice raise because billionaire whatshisface (big booster) wants Houston to be a top ten team a la UCF. They think DH can do it. We’ll see.

It will be a little easier to win at Houston if he can recruit there.Houston fires coaches who only win eight games a year so they hire a guy who only topped eight wins twice in eight seasons and averaged 7.625 wins a year.

Fun fact: the average distance for college programs recruiting is 250-350 miles. It will be a little easier to win at Houston if he can recruit there.
This has got to be one of the most bizarre hires ever and yet, I don't hate it.
