2018-19 Coaching Carousel (other than Bama)...

Re: First Head Coaching Casualty of 2018

Kingsbury got terminated for on-field performance at a mid-tier Big-12 school but immediately he is hired as an NFL head coach because he coached two hot young QBs at the former employer that terminated him for poor performance.

The NFL owns. This league is real smart.
To be fair, they were pretty good this year until they had injuries to several QBs.

Re: First Head Coaching Casualty of 2018

The NFL has collectively lost its mind; now all they are interested in is scoring points, and they’ll do whatever it takes including shot-in-the-dark HC hires.

and the Falcons did exactly what I expected the Falcons to do for their OC. They recycled another failed coach in Dirk Koetter. The good news is the will have a top 5 pick in 2020.

Re: First Head Coaching Casualty of 2018

When He was with ATL, he had top 4 offense.

I remember. I also remember the head coach was fired. They put up a lot of yards, hardly any points and were terrible on 3rd down. They also put up a lot of yards and stats with Sark. Yet he was fired. In other words the more things change the more they stay the same.

I imagine yards will be easy to come by with the offensive weapons that ATL has.

Looks like Chip Lindsey isn’t staying in Kansas long. He’s reportedly the next man Troy.

Ugh. Why does my Alma Mater have to keep hiring Auburn guys? I had to stomach having Blakeney there for several years, and I will admit he did a really good job with them. I was glad to have Neal Brown in that spot. He did really well also. But I would have preferred not going the Auburn route again.

'Keep it down home cuz' was really good at Troy. Brown probably took it to a new level. Lindsay has a lot of high school ties so he may do well also.

Football Scoop is reporting that UGA has offered the OC job to Eddie Gran the Assistant Head Coach and Running backs coach at Kentucky. Gran was on Tubs' auburn staff from 1999-2008.

Re: 2018-19 Coaching Carousel

Kirby just officially promoted James Coley to OC.

I suspect he had this plan hatched somewhere towards the end of 2017, why else would he double his salary, make him Co-OC, take over the QB's and put him in the booth. He knew Jim wouldn't go for that arrangement long term. I expect our offense to go uptempo with far fewer goal line QB sneaks against the Gators in 2019, runs up the middle on 1st down and fake punts. LOL!

Which is why he offered the job to Gran. :conf3:

Re: 2018-19 Coaching Carousel

Not sure what role he will get, but I’ll predict right now that Butch Jones will be get one of them. He and Saban obviously have familiarity, comfort level, and rapport with each other. OC would seem to be the most likely to me. Very unexciting to me but I’ll trust the process.
