Game Thread: 2020 NFL Draft

No doubt you have to tip your hat this year but lets see how many LSU players get drafted next year. I guess we will find out how good Coach O really is next year.

I can only speak for myself, but I think Coach O is legit and will continue to put a competitive team on the field as long as he coaches.

Regarding their team last year - I think having Burrow was really what brought the entire team together into a unity that every program yearns for every season.

Coach Saban talks about this all the time.

I have seen many previous Florida teams that are just loaded with talent fail to get it all together and compete the way they should. That QB position - he's the field general.

So I agree with the idea that we should wait and see what happens this year without Burrow and all the rest of that talent that left. Going to be fun to see how it all goes down - not just at LSU but the whole conference.

You may be right, but I'll take the wait and see approach. Excluding last year, where's the evidence he really knows how to be the HC and CEO over a SEC program?

He gets credit for this year, but with all they lost (players and coaches) he could literally do a "decent" job next year and finish 3rd in the West.

I'm OK with the "wait and see" approach, too.

But I still think he's a good coach. ;)

Has Matt Womack landed anywhere? I have looked and cannot find him listed. With the poor o-line play across the entire NFL last year, I would have thought he would at least get invited to camp somewhere.

I agree...coach O has been around a long time and understands the role of a head coach is to recruit -- both players and coaches -- and organize them to the best degree possible. To what extent he is involved in the X's and O's I have no clue...but don't let his demeanor or scratchy voice lead us astray. He's nobody's fool and is in a gold mine for players...

He's good enough. Heck I think he's probably better than Malzahn, and yet Gus has been the biggest thorn in Nick Saban's side during his tenure. I respect him more than I did before, but don't fear him. I look back at our game with them, and they were obviously more talented, and healthier, and despite knocking us down for an 8 count in the first half, still managed to allow us back in the game in the second half. And much of our problems were still self-inflicted.

But that was a massive crater that graduation and the draft left on that roster. I think it largely comes down to the point you made - what kind of talent and leadership will they be able to get from the QB position this year following Burrow?

Maybe you haven't heard but the backup from last year is even better than Burrow.

I was wondering the same thing. Keep checking his dad's twitter feed, and can't seem to find anything. He is from just south of me in Hernando and really wish him well. Started as a freshman, dealt with some injury issues, and was the 6-7 man on a very talented O-Line. He could of picked up his things and left at any time, but he stayed and competed, Really hope someone gives him an opportunity.

I read somewhere that with the whole COVID situation that teams haven't signed as many UDFA as usual. They aren't in a rush. So its possible that's impacting him
