They say on tv we have less than 5% of the world’s population and will soon have 30% of the number of cases of the virus worldwide.

It seems like we have enough people determined to open up, damn the plague, and just accept however many die, that they are making things less safe for everyone.

IT reminds me of how this country has so many more gun deaths than any other country, and how we seem resigned to live with it.

Well science and math are apolitical in nature, but only one party sees them as inconvenient facts that don't fit their narrative. In the end, this is what happens when a party declares war on education and sells their base that it is a good thing. We are becoming the country of "dumb."

One party thinks science is just an opinion.

over the weekend i had an uncle who lives in the mobile area bragging about walking around and not needing a mask, and he's being sure to talk to everyone to show them that everything is normal and that he is not going to live in fear. he and my aunt are both in their late 70s. after that, he actually said that god is protecting areas that raise him up but is not protecting areas and regions that don't worship in the correct way, so he has no worries.

he retired as a full bird colonel and has been quite successful in his business career.

I had an uncle who was retired army. You couldn’t tell him anything. He drowned at 86 driving his 4wd truck that “would go anywhere” through flood waters. His son-in-law found him still in the truck when the waters receded.

‘This feels great’

How people in the Atlanta area are working hard to spread the virus. Some of the things in the story:

A woman pushing her 88-year-old mother around in a wheelchair

“If you want to stay home, stay home. If you want to go out, you can go out. I’m not in the older population. If I was to get it now, I’ve got a 90 percent chance of getting cured. Also, I don’t know anybody who’s got it.”

“This is glorious — I think the news is blowing it all out of proportion. The wineries are opening this weekend for indoor service and we’re going there tomorrow. I can’t wait!”

“Oh my God, this feels great — I love it,” she said, explaining that she assumed that she and everyone around her was healthy. “I think people would not be out if they had been exposed to anyone with corona.”

“I’m getting my nails done tomorrow — screw it,” said a nurse drinking a glass of wine on a bench after work.
about 2 miles from me and somewhere I hate to do when NOT in a pandemic (though the movie theater is nice) . No shock that those delusional entitled idiots don't get it. I hate that place so much

This Florida man also thought his God was bigger than any virus...

I'm glad my uncles were just the "pull my finger" type

i had two who were very vocally right wing and one who was a pull my finger guy. the one i mentioned was, up until the trump crap, a pretty bog standard retired army/businessman/"christian" conservative.

the other one was a fringenut lost cause bircher fundy who initially didn't like trump because he didn't think he would go far enough.

both were "totally not a racist" but i remember they were both pretty much incapable of having a conversation for longer than 5 minutes before they would start in on the blacks or the mexicans (one of them lived in texas).

One of my uncles turned down a Brigadier rank in the Bama Air Guard because it was conditioned on supporting Wallace.

So back to what I told my wife. We won't know the impact of opening early until 6/1 since the numbers lag 4 weeks.
I saw that the other day. There is no possible decent explanation for showing the days out of order. But then again this administration stole an election so what should we expect?
