Is Mullen going to join our staff?

I made a sarcastic remark I think after the Auburn game saying Dan Mullen was available. It seemed pretty far out at the time, just silly speculation.

Since then, I’ve caught several conversations on sports radio suggesting this will happen. Mullen would be brought in as a consultant and advisor. Someone waiting in the wings should we find ourselves in the need for an offensive coordinator. Similar to how Kiffin was brought it.

I don’t know if this a real thing or just a rumor, does anybody know what’s up?

I think Mullen is at his best as an offensive coordinator. It's not that he can't be a successful coach but his ceiling as a head coach is a little above average whereas his ceiling as an OC is "one of the best in the nation". I'd love to have mullen on the offensive staff.
I think OC would be his best place........ and Saban will probably pick him up and rehab him

Mullin/BOB would be huge asset to the offense next year. Combine both of them together and offense will be more deadly/lethal . I dont' think BOB should come back next year, but if he can show that he can improve on his playcalling and call game little better, Im all for it. I was real impressed with the playcalling in Georgia game, but one thing Saban has to learn and it's part of his DNA, that you can't call off the dogs in 2nd half and go conservative. That's what happened to us in Georgia game. We should've kept on being rentless and not give up.

Conservative calling is fine when up by 21 and you have the defense we do. We weren’t ever in danger after half.

I think the SEC championship game and how well the offense does in the playoffs will determine if he stays or leaves. If we continue the offensive production we had in the SEC throughout the playoffs, he will probably get HC'ing opportunities after the season, if he isn't already entertaining any.

Our less than stellar second-half offense was the combination of several things ...

Georgia played better.
We ran off to a 21-point lead.
Most importantly, we were adjusting on the fly to the loss of our most reliable receiver. The loss of Metchie affected us every bit as much as the loss of Williams at Auburn.

I hope we have the latter problem fixed by Dec. 31 or we may struggle against Cincy's DBs more than we like.
