We're rebuilding from the ground up.

I don't know how things will end up but so far I like what I'm hearing. I don't think anyone would dispute that what was always missing at Florida the most was the right man in charge. From what I understand, Coach Napier is cleaning house right now. Whatever the bad optics are - they are a means to an end. And that end means Florida will hopefully compete again for a title.

I know the ribbing here is mostly just having fun.

Hey - enjoy it while you can I always say! (y)
Nick Saban stripped the Bama program down before he started constructing what he has built. It just so happens the rebuild went really quickly. I think to build success you have to establish a culture. I think Napier will do that and get UF back to competing in the SEC.

We'll see.

CNA brought a lot more the to table than Napier. I'm not even sure this is a good hire...

Remember, the last 2-3 hires were "can't miss" guys from real programs. And then they hire Napier from Southwestern Cupcake State Community College.

Maybe...

It’s easier to clean house now than it was when Saban came to Tuscaloosa.

Back then, a transfer counted against you in the APR. Today, you get a pass. It’s true that Shula had taken some real chances on character in recruiting — and in fairness, the NCAA sanctions forced his hand on that.

Saban “helped” some of the malcontents out of the program, and I think he would have done so a lot more if not for the APR as it was then.

If I’m in Napier’s shoes, there isn’t a better time to do this than immediately after taking over for a fired coach, especially one where the main complaints were poor recruiting and bad culture within the program.

Might hurt early on, but it accelerates the rebuilding process.

Why recruit when you can get kids who have already had the college experience somewhere else. Once they are here they can’t transfer again without waiting. And you can field a serviceable team for a couple of years as you build up your recruiting.

The portal will work in Florida’s favor.

Florida players got several 15 yard penalties last night and their Interim HC, just maintained a very CALM manner during the entire game. I don't think I could have been CALM like that. I would have been Chewing Out players involved in hurting the team. I don't think Napier will put up with penalties like that hurting the team. And he was there to observe what was taking place. Some needed to use to of that end of game fighting ENERGY to play better during the game. That QB's passing ACCURACY was atrocious.

Well I guess Maryland's QB, T. T., is getting a good receiver for next year.

I like Napier and wish you well. Most coaches don't have the cajones to totally clean house because it usually means a few years of struggling, and most fan bases aren't very patient.

Thank you, @teamplayer ! I think as long as we see a turn around in culture, better recruiting, and progress in on the field technique and scheme, we are willing to wait a little bit.

BTW, the entire staff has been let go.....I mean everyone!

I wonder tho. Did you see the absolute cheap shot from one of napiers former players? And the reception he got on the sidelines?

That's pretty typical. When JW left OSU, the bulk were saying that he was the #3 receiver, at best. Only towards the end of the regular season, did they start admitting they'd let a good one get away...
He would have been #3 at OSU this year. That does not make him any less great .

Regarding Cope......there were stories about attitude issues, which explains why some here are happy to see him go. Of course there are other fans who just have a sour outlook on things (surprise!) and they always show up on social media.

Lord knows we don't need players with negativity coming back after what we went though this year.

That said - I wish he were staying on the condition he and the new staff would be able to work well together.

Apparently that ship has sailed so there's nothing more to do than wish him well and thank him for his contributions, as I stated upstream.....

Yeah I don't think he would have been a difference maker this year at OSU but he sure was here. We needed him more without a doubt and hope he still has more highlight catches to make for us!

He may not be a top 3 receiver pick this year in the draft but I believe he has a great chance at being a first rounder.
