I think there may be an opportunity in “fear the thumb” futures
So the buyout in December will be around 13 million if my math is right. Harsin will be making 5.4 million for year 3.

I think its safe to assume that if he doesnt win 8 games or beat one of the big dogs then we are at the same place we are currently in 7 and half months from now.

The damage is done, and unlike Jetgate, Harsin isnt facing a Shula led Alabama to save his job with.

Not if you keep Harsin, bring in Hugh Freeze as OC - and then promote him next year.
Assuming for a moment that Freeze would even go from a HC to OC...

I don't see Harsin would accept "being told" to hire Freeze as his OC.

Doesn't matter what they decided, they set back the program few years. Recruits is not coming to Auburn because of What BOT pulled. This give Harsbin time to find new job.. which I think he will. Whoever Auburn hire will have a huge mess on their hand and likely to depend on Transfer portal to fix the issue.
Better them than anyone else……….. I will enjoy their mess

The OC will probably be handpicked by the AD (boosters). A good deal of this moving forward has to do with the last OC being forced out for cause.
I really don't see Harsin letting his next OC being handpicked by any one but himself...

So the melty goodness will continue for a few more months. This is going to end deliciously! There is no way he does a good job no matter how hard he may try and after this why should he care? I hope he Frans the season. The PTB at the barn will insist on naming the assistants and they will likely be reporting daily on Harsins activities. The team will be divided and the cult will be restless.

I think the OC will be a placeholder and he will call plays. I think whatever success he has depends on the strength of the AD, who is also an outsider. The new president, who has been on the Auburn faculty for 28 years, is a wildcard. Will he be a typical academic that disdains athletics and the GOBs, or will he be a patsy who got the position because he go along to get along?

Harsin is staying.
Translation: they offered a buyout for less money and he told them to stick it. They can’t afford $18 million after Gus’ payout, so they’re stuck.

Why do you say that...?

Harsin has already shown that he is stubborn.
Because the OC thing started this crap when Harsin was told to fire him but refused. They won’t allow him to hire another guy with problems.

Remember they forced Tubberville to hire his last OC as well.
