You can’t follow them out. Once he has left you are out of danger and no longer have the fear for your life. When you follow them outside you become the aggressor. The guy probably shouldn’t have said what he said but that shouldn’t technically matter at all when it comes to the legality of it.
Exactly. It's not that different from the concealed carry laws. If it's not directly in defense of yourself or another person, you're the aggressor.

Well, from what I've gathered about the arrest, I suspect charges will be reduced or dropped. Yeah, he shouldn't have followed the guy out, but man, this dude could have been killed to death while in the apartment.

"Around 3:30 p.m. Sunday, Knoxville police responded to a call at an apartment at 2030 Grand Ave., the incident report stated. A man with a bloody, swollen mouth and multiple broken and missing teeth said he had been drinking with friends who live in the complex when he went to get items from a vehicle, according to the arrest warrant.

The man said when he returned, he accidentally went to the wrong building. He knocked on the door but no one answered. So he opened the unlocked door and entered the apartment.

When he realized he had entered the wrong apartment, he told police he apologized and left. He said a man pursued him and became aggressive. He apologized again but also told the man he "didn't have to be a (expletive) about it." The pursuing man then punched him in the face, and he fell backward down the stairs and lost consciousness.

NOT suggesting he should play - anyone facing felony charges needs to ride the pine, at the very least - but it's not how I initially heard it went down.

Ultimately, he's part of a secondary currently ranked third from last in passing D, so I'm not sure losing him (or retaining his play) matters.
I have no idea how this will play out in court, but only a thug would do what he did. Thugs with that lack of self control do not belong in this sport.

I never, ever look at things this way. I don't care what other people think or say. I care about Alabama football and I want Alabama to win. I'm fine with the entire Tennessee team coming down with the flu right before the game.
Yeah, many people feel this way, but I'm a competitor and want them at their best. I hope we play great and whip them at their best. Of course, that's me. Roll Tide!

Trust me - Georgia fans were happy to see Alabama without JaMo and Metchie. That is the only way that they win, and they have some trophies now because of that.

This is part of the game. You play with who you have.

I mean I hate Tennessee but we only know one side of the story here. If some random drunk guy bursts into my apt in the middle of the night we are probably gonna scrap 🤷🏻‍♂️ If you’re drunk enough to go in the wrong apt I do not believe you weren’t belligerent also I’m not gonna believe your memory of the events whatsoever. That’s blackout behavior
It was 3 in the afternoon. Not the middle of the night. I have walked into the wrong motel room before, and tried to open the wrong door before. It happens sometimes.

I’ve done that. I’ve also not been paying close enough attention and walked into the wrong restroom in airports, restaurants, etc. Stone cold sober, so I didn’t have an excuse of being under the influence. It does happen.

Embarrassing to say the least. Feel like the entire world is watching you.

The fact he followed the guy to the stairwell, punched him in the chops and knocked him down the stairs is a different deal….a 3 pm on a Sunday. He was looking for a reason to light the guy up.

Of course, in Knoxville it probably qualifies him for a citizenship award and a position as the Grand Marshall in the Homecoming Parade.

Yes, injuries/suspensions are part of the game, and you have to play with who you have. That goes without saying. However, I'm not going to wish other teams lose players for any reason. I want to beat them at their best, which is the point of competition to me.

Says a lot about this new coaching staff. A big game is more important than discipline so, same old, same old, let the player run the ship. Heupel will lose control and be out in 2-3 years.
100% agree with this. He will probably play the guy, Alabama will probably find a way to win anyway, and in a few years he'll have an undisciplined mess. There is no short cut to success, you don't build to last until you first secure the foundation. In my lifetime even when Shula was the coach nobody was ever suspended for the Alabama game as long as they weren't physically in jail.

No one has suggested wishing bad things on opponent players. You seem to want to qualify wins when only wins matter. No one cares that Colt got hurt - Alabama won. No one cares that Bo and Eddie got hurt. Clemson won. No one cares that JaMo and Metchie got hurt - Georgia won

We've come a long way from Coach Bryant benching Joe Namath for the biggest game of the season because he got caught drinking a beer.
This point should be emphasized.

We're also a long was from Junction, TX, and that's a good thing - player health and safety are part of the 'disciplinary equation' now.

But rationalizing poor behavior happens at an alarming rate in our society, and CFB is no different.

Hey, let 'em play the young man and lose. Heupel is likely (maybe?) be at OU at this time next year and UTe is left with....??? at HC next year.

Under Saban, Bama usually shows up for the big games. Remember that Ole Miss game a couple of years ago (202)? It'll probably not as high scoring but just as nerve wrecking No doubt Tennessee will punch Bama in the mouth but Bama is going to deliever the late round KO on Tennesse.

I think it's going to be something like 34-24.

No, I clearly agreed with you that things happen and you play with the team you have, and the result of the game is what goes on record. I simply stated that I do not hope things happen to an opponent just to make winning easier. Simple. Carry on.

So you think OU will fire CBV after just one year?
