I question whether we have talent or if we have “phantom” talent? I’m reminded of the Dubose - Cottrell era where guys we recruited were ranked high because we recruited them so we could win recruiting day with most points. Given what I see at numerous positions we may have something similar going on. That or our evaluation skills have dramatically diminished in last 3 years. I still think this team and coach combo has the lowest football IQ in the Saban era.

I could be wrong, but I'm still not convinced it's the players (take receivers for example). Sure, they aren't Smitty, Waddle, Rugs and Juedy, but they aren't terrible either.

The name of the game of scheming your players open on offense at this level. It's what we used to do, but can't anymore.

Lol. Kind of difficult to be a mod if you’re not watching the game. Lord.
I don’t spend as much time here as I used to and mainly come on for game days. But you should know that the game threads are a very a very small portion of this board and there is a lot of moderating to be done throughout the week that doesn’t require one to watch every game. Lots of other sub forums too. 🙂

A Nick Saban coached team has not figured out how to stop a team with a decent dual threat QB. Change my mind....

That really makes no sense. Blocking an XP is one of the most low percentage plays that one can make in the game. There was always a much higher chance that if LSU scored a TD there would be at least enough time on the clock to go down far enough to kick a FG.

claiming we wanted 2 so we could block an XP and still be tied is simply rationalizing a poor decision imo.
You are both correct. We lost to Florida in a championship game because we went for an extra point instead of going for two. I think we should have kicked the extra point on both occasions tonight. I just know why we went for two.

Honestly, if I were Bryce, I might not play another down this year. He’s proven enough by keeping this squad afloat.
If he's hurt he needs to sit for a while.

It certainly would help to get Ty Simpson some time unless we are going to double down on the Jalen Hurts offense from when he was a freshman, because that's who Milroe is.

We have a good team but definitely not a great one. It feels weird to not be "elite". Something's got to change, it's time for new coordinators. An offense that can't score on the road, a defense performing way below the talent level.

Two games now, we let the other team stay in the game so they could win with a heroic final play. Alabama has lost the killer instinct to just shut it down and close it out.

We spied the QB. Wasn’t the same guy every play, most of the time it seemed like Moody had that responsibility. Which made no sense, being he is the slowest guy not a down lineman. We started in zone with everyone’s eyes on the QB. As they started making plays downfield, we switched to more combo and man.
I watched more than one play when there was no spy. Young saved one big run with a sack, and Golding was bringing the MLB's to the edge to rush on more than one occasion. So we weren't spying the QB enough, especially in the 4th.

Still better odds than a touchdown only being worth five points.
but if you kick the XP then you are in a situation to win with a FG not tie if they score a TD. Young has shown that he can work miracles before. I wouldn't bet against him in a 2 minute situation.

We ran too many defensive alignments where there were NO LB's behind the LOS. I know I saw it more than a handful of times. If the runner broke the first wave of defenders only the CB's and safeties were left. That is on Golding's dumb self.
